What is the widest tire I can put on the stock rims with no other adjustments? Thanks!

I think you should send it to Jesse James and have him put a 300 on it.

Why do you want (need) a wider tire?

Yeah really, but I would guess a 190. Call a Honda shop and ask them.

190 will fit which is good. I happened to be given a brand new one from a neighbor and wanted to save it or sell it. I guess I'll save it at put it on the VFR this winter. Thanks!

A 190 will likely fit, but you will be giving up some handling in favour of zero gains. The bike does not produce sufficient power to require a tire of such width (needed for straightline traction on a very high output motor). A wider tire will slow the handling down.

My advice would be to sell it or trade it for the correct 180/55 size.

I was gonna make a smart ass comment, but if somebody gave me a free rear tire - I would probably use it. Wargoose is right though - if you can trade it for a stock size tire you would be better off.

I agree with mello dude and Wargoose the 190 will fit. But the bike won't turn as quckly.
a General rule of thumb I am told is you can go up or down one size on the Stock rim. per Garret Honda in New Orleans. I would try and trade it for a 180

I also recommend you stay with the stock size. I had a 1990 zx10 Ninja in my younger years. When the zx11 came out in 1992 it had a 190 on the rear compared to a 180 on my zx10. I thought new bike, faster, so the wider tire must be better , right? WRONG! The bike got a high speed death wobble as soon as the tires were put on. I couldn't imagine something so simple could have an effect like that so I spent lots of time and money before I finally replaced the tires with the factory size which immediately fixed the problem. I understand the tire is free but I wouldn't risk road rash on my bike and body for $200. If you do try it just keep my experience in mind and be careful.
