I have just picked up my new VFR800 (yesterday). I have had the old VTEC and VFR1200 and have had Scorpio alarms fitted. Usually you open up the seat and you see all the wiring/connectors and you go from there. On this one, Honda have made it really tidy. But how easy is it for an alarm now to be fitted, without having the bike ripped apart. Scorpio can make a plug and play harness but would like some pics of the turn signals and tail light wires/connectors to see what they would need to do. I am looking at the inside and going 'where has it all gone'.....
Any help would be great...And before anyone mentions it, I don't trust my local Honda dealer...they have a top notch car mechanic who works on the bikes electronics and wires the GPS in top the starter...GPS connected, you can't start the bike, GPS disconnected and you can start the bike....

Most alarms I found are equipped with an immobilizer which is redundant since the VFR has HISS so I went with one of these

yeah its cheap but it hooked up super easily under the seat in 5min, the sensitivity is adjustable and its loud as F**K. Its worked wonders for me but doesn't link to the headlights/indicators or have remote start or anything like that

9mm or 357 magnum. If they get my bike, I really don't want it back. That's why I have insurance.

It doesn't look like Scorpio ever made the harness for our bikes. Does anyone know if there is a plug and play way to add a Scorpio alarm?

Honda are still making and selling new 8th Gen models and accessories in Europe. Their accessory catelog is available here.

    https://www.honda.co.uk/content/hon...f/file.res/TouringAccessoriesBrochure2020.pdf

However in Europe we only got one version of the 8th Gen which I think is the equivalent of your DLX. I am not sure what equipment got dropped for the cheaper models - but if they dumped HISS you really should be looking for a decent alarm immobiliser.

If your VFR has HISS (with coded keys) and are looking for a neat fit solution then you could consider the OEM fit alarm add-on - listed on page 19 of the accessory catelog.

The "spyball" alarm offered for the 8thGen VFR is effectively a cut down version of the full Averto alarm fitted to the likes of the Goldwing etc at an eyewatering cost of £650+ The spyball is listed at £215+ VAT and needs a further £90+VAT mounting bracket. It is not cheap but is designed to fit neatly onto your 8thGen and has remote arming and disarming. I assume Honda Dealers your sid eof the pond can order in this kit.

However personally I do not place much faith in Alarms or trackers.

For that money you could buy a top quality Almax Series 4 or 5 chain and quality lock which provided it is attached to something really solid (ground anchor/lampost) is the best way to ensure that when you get back to your VFR it is still where you left it!

Trackers don't stop your bike being stolen! They just provide some chance to recover the remains of your bike after it has been trashed, and take a baseball bat to the thieving twats. Obviously trackers depend on signals being sent out regularly by the motorbike. Sadly professional gangs have kit to scan and locate the source of any tracking signals and won't hesitate to just rip out the sending unit in seconds and simply lob it onto a passing lorry ensuring you end up chasing a phantom all over the counry - meantime bits from your bike will be up for sale through CList, tBay etc...

If any motorbike is not securely attached to something immoveable, then it is all too easy for to stick scaffold poles through the wheels and lift it into the back of a van in seconds even in broad daylight in a public place with an alarm wailing. Sadly most people now seem to ignore a sounding alarm and even fewer would think to call the police.

    Take care

I have a Scorpio which I had on past bikes, not going to install it on the Gen5 I don't think. It needs connections to signal lights, etc. and I had adapter harnesses on previous bikes. I don't see connectors, so I think it would be a matter of tapping in (likely in the tail where they are accessible) and put the alarm back there too. Don't know if the later Gens had connectors, but you can get connectors if you wanted to make up an adapter harness provided all wires you need are in proximity. With HISS, I vote no alarm.
Stolen bikes are usually the more popular ones that can be parted out, Harley's in particular...... perhaps call your insurance company and see if they have any stats on VFR thefts.... might put your mind at ease. I'd think in North America the numbers are teeny.

If it was a dealer or mechanic, I would make them pay one way or another.
