    Guys,

I own an 02 Vtec that I love. Only had it since May and wow where has it been all my life.

Here is the problem and I bet most of us have it. The best part of riding is buying a new bike, right. So I'm getting the itch to add another bike to the corral. What do you get after a VFR?? The bike does so much so well!

I was thinking CBR600 but I 45 and not a skinny kid. It would be a blast to throw around. Perhaps a naked ZRX 1200 different and fits my age very well. I still remember my first bike a GPZ 550. Enduro/motard is out. My jewels matter too much to me. ZX 12R fits like a glove but I need my Drivers lic too much. Top speed on the VFR is plenty.

    OR

Do I go back in time and pick up another generation VFR?

I like the idea but are they that different? 4th or 5th generation. I'm certain they have a different character.

Give me some opinions, let me know what you guys think, have you been here?

    Joe

My vote Joe is for diversity. Don't have two bikes that are similar unless you embrace only one kind of bike...horses for courses. The VFR is a hard bike to beat but you may like to have a muscle cruiser as well. Go ride a few. I have a buddy with a VFR and a Victory Vegas 8-ball. He likes the 8-ball better for overall riding but loves his VFR for different occasions. I am not a Harley guy but another bike to consider is a Harley Streetrod. It has mid controls versus the less wieldy V-rod with forward controls and is really a hybrid between cafe bike and fat cruiser. It will do a high 11 second quarter so fast enough as well.

I know what you are going through. I'm up to 13 motorcycles and still considering more. I'm not sure if it's an addiction or a sickness, but it's something. Luckily my wife is an enabler.

i gotta chime in. if you are going to go cruiser / power cruiser. check out a yamaha warrior. I am a little biased, owning one. but if a V-twin is in your future, and it does not come in the form of a RC-51 or Duc. you should check out a used warrior. the good thing for you is that you can get used ones fairly cheap, with tons of mods that you might be looking for. i got over 30,000 hard miles on my warrior, and never a hiccup. really good lean angle for a cruiser also. not a sportbike by any means. but as far as an all around cruiser package. it is hard to beat. chicks dig the warrior also. never had one girl say she did not like it, even one I launched off the back seat. it is not a harley :). and the aftermarket for a warrior is outstanding. they have one of the best forums on the internet. great bunch of guys www.rswarrior.com
If you want to go retro the Zrx is a good naked. or scrape up an old GPZ, or H3 triple 2 stroke and tinker.
I am currently looking to go the other way. im looking for a sport-tourer C14, FJR, and a used VFR is a good possibility for me and keep my warrior. I want something that revs atleast to 10,000 rpm and has hard bags.

    The bug has got me

    Guys thanks,

I was afraid that 2 vfrs would be too much of the same bike so starting to stay away from that idea.

To find an old GPZ in reasonable shape maybe a little hard. But would love one for certain.

A dirt bike did cross my mind. Very different bike and road/dirt. This is still in play.

I didn't think about a power cruiser at all. Hmmm I did look at the Super Hawk. Hondas Duc don't know the Vfr is pretty sporty. It could be nice to have a twin with a lot less weight.

This whole thing will be a quest for some time. I wish the VFR wasn't such a good all round bike. You really have to go different and that isn't easy.

Keep the ideas coming I'm at a loss right now.

    Joe

More VFR's is not a bad idea. I have had a total of 4 VFR's, and I still plan on buying another if Honda ever decides to build a new one.

Another bike related addiction pertains to modding. As mentioned, I like diversity and all kind of motorcycles so one of each is a good thing. But it doesn't stop there. Then you have to take them apart and make them either faster, lower or just plain cooler. That's where muscle cruisers are fun.
Oh...and btw...there is no cure...its in the DNA.
    Have fun.

I have similar issues. I was looking at ST1300s and other bikes and was going crazy trying to justify my decision. I thought about what I want and what i want to do with a bike. I have a 2K VFR that I use for street riding and touring. I had to put my VFR in the shop for routine maint and was told I needed a new water pump and the part was on back order. It took almost two months to get the part. So a second bike is something any metric rider may want to consider since there is likely gonna be an issue with parts. I want to use my VFR for street riding and also touring and would like a second bike I can use when the VFR is down. Next thing for me was to decide was if I wanted a crusier or another sport bike. Since I also want to do some trackdays I have decided to look for a low mileage sportbike. Of course the CBR 600 came immediately to mind, but further thought reminded me of other choices. I am holding out to find a good end of season deal on a low mileage used CBR FI, Blackbird, ZX9, or maybe a 4th Gen VFR. I may end up getting a 4th Gen VFR, because it is a multipurpose bike that can do some track and street/touring riding. Also, I would perfer my second bike to perform and handle similar to my daily ride. Just what work for me - Good Luck with your decision.

Another VFR for sure. I'd go for a 2nd or 3rd Gen.

Don't rule out an old 1st Gen. If you can find one with good cams (I found one) it would be a blast, and be completely different than your '02.

little bikes take up less space in your storage hall. 400cc works for the Suzuki dual sport and some older races bikes like the VFR & FZR which are harder to find.

Your 80's standards are findable your old Kawi is likely to be found on eBay or Craigslist if you keep looking. :typing:

The V-Twin cruisers stop at the Road King for me. :thumb: But I've never been as proud of a Harley as the current owner was, so never paid them what they wanted and still don't have one, but I'd ride it.

Then there are lots of Goldwangs with more shiny bits than Mr T's jewelry.... not that there's anything wrong with that. (why do so many have all the chrome danglely stuff on them like a rolling chandelier? :loco:)

Is there anyone who would not want a Ducati 1098 as a second bike?

so it comes down to time and money (and perhaps permission :ballchain: )

GPz 750 Turbo. Fun bike when the turbo kicks in. It's a little flexy in the corners though.

    Guys keep em coming. Thanks.

Okay since we know the VFR is a hard act to follow, I thinking about a thumper. The KLR is 80's technology but it works. The major problem it aint a Honda.

    Honda has the
XR 650L Maybe? KTM too $ and Aprillia has a screamer Motard but at 9K no way.

The KLR is better street bike but this would be to scoot around town not to Alaska. This could change fast!!!!
