I was going to go through them as I have a great track record with em. But when I found out the RR for mine was $162, $212 list. Yea I know you get what you pay for, Sorta, but figure with a warranty through Electro I couldn't get hurt to bad.
I know what you mean Hater, I'm on the fence with fingers crossed, I wasn't impressed with how it looks, then it didn't want to bolt up all that great either, but in this case it's what's inside that counts.

I wish you nothing but the best of luck with the electrosport RVFR, with Pearl having the same problem that I am having with the R/R I dont know what else it could be. Maybe it was just a rash of bad ones, maybe its a strange coincidence, I really don't know, I just hope yours lasts a lot longer than mine! Good luck RVFR!

    hater,

I got a r/r from Rick's Motorsport Electrics, http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com, for about $120 plus shipping (had mine sent overnight and it got here by 7:30 AM the next morning ). It is beefier then the redesigned OEM Honda unit and the Electrosport and I had no problems from it after I put it on. The only thing I did was relocate it to the backside of the subframe so it could get better air and use a longer bolt to mount it.

Don't sweat it too much man...just ride. I have a Rick's sator and a Electrosports RR. If I have any issues then I'll move to a Rick's RR.

    Check out the happy llama!:llama:

I just installed a R/R from ricks that I purchased on a bike for a guy. First we beefed up his wiring using my VFRness, then we took readings. He went from hardly charging to charging ok, but not high enough. With the new R/R he was at 14.6 volts, right where it should be.

I think you need to beef up the original wires AND put a new R/R on in some cases.

    Cost of R/R, $120
    Cost of VFRness $45
Not having to sit with your bike in the garage while you drive the cage....Priceless

    Thanks Vman
this gives me a clear idea what to expect, thou like the Electro one, I can see the base is way thicker than the stock unit, which requires a re do on the mounting. On mine they use welded studs, so longer bolts don't work. ended up using no lock washers plus thin nuts with lock tight. I've logged a little over 600 miles since the new RR and not a hint of trouble, but now that it's bit me, I'm keeping a close eye on it.
Question; what is it in regards to re using the stock heat shield plate thats with the stock RR on the 4th gens? I couldn't use that so wondering what the fall out could be?

What is the measurement of the holes on center? I have an R/R that has 3"-4" slots, with a thin mounting base, which may work well in this situation. It is a little bigger, but I think would fit under the tail section still.

Well just checking back in. I'm not completely sure where I last left off, but I believe it was somewhere around the 3 or 4th R/R from electrosport, a new stator, and all new wiring. Well, the new R/R smells burned right from the box, and the new stator from electrosport only puts out 40 volts AC max. The wiring gets real hot and all in all it's just not charging. Deciding that the stator is already bad and all that new wiring isn't doing anything for me, I rip all that out and put it back to the way it was (stock stator and wiring). At this point I have to assume yet again it is a bad R/R. So, I got a new one off of ebay supposedly to be a beefed up 40 amp R/R. Get it 3 days later and pop it in. WHHHAALLAAAAA I have charging!!!!!! So the moral of today's story boys and girls......DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM ELECTROSPORT!!!!! Great customer service but every single one of their parts are crap through and through. Just sharing......

    Hater81,

Sorry to hear about all the probems! I almost hate to ask this because you you have had such an ordeal: did you check for resistance at all the high current points? Seems like the R/Rs are just not 'seeing" the battery and all the power from the aternator is going to heat. It 'thinks' the battery is fully charged so it dumps the current as heat. --- It may be that all is fine now and you are convinced the hardware from Rick's is junk.

Let me know. I was on the side of the road this past Friday, got a tow and have been 'going to school' on regulators ever since.

    Let me know.

    Hi,
Just posting to update. I got my replacement R/R from the company in Canada. It is another Electrosport. I have had it in there for a while now and it is doing great. I hope it stays that way. I am going to beef up the wiring from the R/R to the battery. So far though, about 600 miles and doing good.

Urgent Message For 3rd Generation R/r

Electrosport has pulled all their product (R/R) for the 3rd generation. I am not sure how far back their "batch" goes but they will no longer sell or send warranty units back!!!!!

I am getting a full credit through the dealer for this through Electrosport. They decided sometime last week to YANK them all for the 3rd Gen due to major issues.
