That is not a huge bracket when you compare it to the OEM bracket that you cannot take off. Givi does have a quick release, just don't lose the key. As for the SHAD, yet it is just a 'L' shaped bracket and that is it. It doesn't hang down on front of the rear wheel spoiling the looks when you have no bag on. So yes, it is better than others out there. The bags are also of a better quality than other bags out there. SHAD started off making bags for BMW motorcycles only and then branched out.
But the SHAD mount looks better than the OEM mount with no bag on.

There is another older solution out there, the Givi Wingrack if you can find one... I have one here, have to find a way to fit it because my 5th Gen has a high mounted exhaust. Will have to engineer that at some point if I want that, but I'm a couple of weeks away and may indeed go with something else. It is a die-cast affair with a tube to support it at the passenger footpegs, and has mounting brackets coming off the grab handles.... specific to your Gen..... there were two vertical diecast pieces that also formed an "L" so you could mount a top box rack. The main mount has buttons and latches for the standard Givi monokey cases...... you can download the instructions if you Google Givi Wingrack instructions......

I've got a set of blue, with hardware. Also have the top mounted and hardware. Tops black for some reason. Side bags have scratches and half assed touch up paint but are otherwise great, just paint damage not into the plastic.

I have a set of asphalt grey (OEM color for MY 2004) saddle bags in great condition. They were originally Italian Red but I had them professionally painted to match my (former) bike. Come with 4 keys but no mounting hardware.

If anyone is interested and anywhere near the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to deal with paying shipping, I just removed black OEM bags and all hardware from my 2007 6th gen VFR. They came with the bike and I never used them so other than a scratch where the previous owner tipped over in his driveway they're in great shape.

Send me a PM if you're interested. With luck I'll still have them.

Hey are you still looking for a set of these hard side bags?

I have a set of (I think GIVI) Side bags with all hardware that came off my '03 VRF800 in Silver.

If you're still looking, I will take pics tonight.
