Praying for Jay. Does this relate to the fall he had off the ladder?

I think it’s more degeneration of his vertebrae’s n his lower back.

Thanks guys for your kind thoughts, Yea getting old isn't for the faint of heart, yet why I opt for surgery vs. dealing with it. S1 L5 rotor rostered, now if only the pain meds wouldn't throw me around so much.

Is this likely to impact your riding?

Anyone know exactly what they are gong to do to his back? Back surgery can mean anything. It's usually a last resort. Anyone that says pain meds are not good for chronic pain has never experienced chronic pain.

Funny thing how this was, riding was actually good for this as when you lean forward you open up the spine. well in my case it did, so hopefully optimistic this surgery shouldn't phase this part of my life. But Holly shit, the stuff they can do today. still though healing now with all the side effects of the Meds is a whole other story.

Heal up quick! Back problems really suck. I will likely have some degree (too much) of back problems the rest of my life. Certain meds help chronic pain but I hate taking any kind of meds. The forward lean of a VFR helps me. I can't ride sitting upright. Kills my back to do that.

I totally agree with many back injury recipients who can't sit straight upright for any period of time. A cruiser type bike just won't do for me, thus one of the reasons I agreed on the purchase of mine way back in 2006. Hell, I manage only about 1 1/2 hours at a dinner table before I have to move.

Most back issues are a little different from another, and it is the doctor who knows what is best for you, and your physiotherapist who is an important part of your recovery. Just understand though, there may be varying amounts of discomfort, and maybe pain involved in the short term, maybe even long term, and I hope not but chronic. That is where I am, and have been a very long time. But even so, it is manageable. I can't help but wonder how much of that is because I did not totally follow doctors orders way back when. That is a hint J. Take care and good luck.

My experience with my back is that doctors: A. Don't know what to do B. Don't give a shit because they don't feel your pain and C. Won't prescribe proper meds that really help. So, find a doctor that doesn't fall in those categories if you can. Nobody cares about your pain more than you do.

Heal up Jay. Grind out the PT.

Long ago my back would slip a lower disc and I would be out for a few days on ice. I started using an inversion table and do a lot of core exercises. Its been OK for a long time now.

I found the best are the physiotherapists for this stuff, unless you have degenerating discs or something else needing surgery, but still the physio guys can help with that too post-op.
