    Hello all-

I have read much about blocking the PAIR valve on Gen 6 bikes, and some on Gen 5 bikes, but is there any benefit to soing this on a Gen 4 bike?

I have a '96 with a TBR stainless can & snorkel delete, no other mods. I prefer simplicity to over engineering:smash:, therefore, if this gizmo could be deleted without any negative effects, I would like to hack it completely off, and block off the ports where it was...

    Discuss, please!

I have not managed to identify it on my 3G, and as the 3G and 4G are similar in many ways it may be that it is not on these gen bikes. Anyone confirm that??

Not sure the 3rd Gen has them or the 4th Gen Mk1. The 4th Gen Mk2 I know does have them but the housing and location is different to the 5th & 6th Gen's, check your .pdf manual if you have it.

I removed the PAIR System on my '96, and didn't notice any adverse effects. I didn't notice any positive ones either to be honest, other than shedding a few pounds of stuff. It was pretty easy to do, only took me an hour perhaps. The front cylinders are ALOT easier to get to than the rear ones. I had to hack the rear portion if the system pretty good to remove it correctly if I remember right, as I did this back in 2003.

I'm doing a street-fighter conversion on a 91 model. Without the fairings, I believe I can delete the oil cooler. Has anybody done this?

    Thanks,
    Lane

    Dale,

I have a couple of questions about your Trail-Tech computer. I bought the Vapor with the indicator lights. Do you have the Vector or Vapor? If it's the Vapor, did you find an easy way to install the temp sensor?

    Thanks,
    Lane

I gotta agree with you, it looks like crap on the front. That said, I think you'd be crazy to delete it, especially given that faired bikes actually cool more effectively with the rad shroud creating positive pressure flow through the rad that you lose on a naked bike.

I have a better looking one off a CBR600 on the front, flipped upside down and mounted a bit differently. I'd like to try one off a Buell XB12SX - go look at one of those if you want a good looking *and* effective idea.

Lane, I'd be interested to hear if you can ever get the Vapor tach to work on your VFR without it reading totally wacked out and fluctuating wildly ( by 2,000 rpm) at a steady state cruise. Mine has been a piece of shit, and the guys at Trail Tech (beyond the first basic set up stuff that I already had covered) were of no help in their "product support" post purchase. I would not recommend anyone deal with them on this alone. Google up the Acewell computers as a good alternate for less $$.

That said, the pre-purchase support was good, and I asked enough questions and provided enough measurements that the guys at TrailTech sent my unit out with (I think) a 1" aluminum hose insert that I put in the right (pressure, going to the radiator) side radiator hose.

I'll try to post up a pic of this later tonight.

edit... ok let's try this one....and one of the oil cooler......

Thanks Dale. I thought I replyed already..... I'll call TrailTech about the sensor, and I like what you did with the oil cooler.

I found an even better looking way of dealing with the oil cooler mounting, just trying to figure out the details of how to pull it off.

That is very much where I'm going with my bike, but I will use some other headlights. Those are too big for my tastes. The oil cooler looks good there, and I have mine temporarily mounted vertically on the left side of the bike. It sticks out a little too far.

I got the correct temp sensor from Trail-tech.
