There is a lack of "real estate" on VFRs before 2014. Pictures please.

A long time ago I gave up traditional power sockets, they're too big and bulky. Hard wire what you can, but coax heated gear outlets are small and efficient, or SAE plugs for your battery tender harness. Depends what you're trying to power up......
An aux. fuse panel helps in this endeavour, depending on which one you get, it can have options for switched and unswitched circuits. Another option for one or two circuits is a fuse tap, but do a little homework on wire sizes.

Forgive me. I should have been more specific. I meant sockets for USB devices satnavs, phones, cameras etc. I agreed that there should be a relay in the circuit but I was interest in the location (s)

Can't show because it is almost invisible, but I have a dual USB socket on the inside of the right hand fairing, level with the yoke.

I just did the wiring for mine. Will be mounting it in the inside/dash "cowl", on the left side of the instruments.
There is plenty of room and it's just a matter of drilling a hole for the outlet and one for the on/off switch.

    Should look pretty clean.

OK, that's what I did, just on the right. It keeps the weather off it, to a large extent, too.

There are several USB outlets available, I've had several.... some need a hole, some need a surface mount or handlebar mount or..... a zip tie or 3M duo-loc works. If you have a Zumo 590 series GPS, it has a USB lead (only when GPS is on, and it doesn't charge very fast). Battery Tender has one that plugs into an SAE connector. At the end of the day, ensure it's off as it is a parasitic draw on your battery if wired live.

Thought I might add a pic. I really like my solution as it is nice and clean. And having it mounted like that, rather than on the horizontal part, keeps cables out of the way when plugged in.

It has 2 USB sockets and a voltmeter. Under the dash, you can see a small button which is the on/off switch for it. The button lights up bright red when on, so it's hard to forget. Not that it really matters since it's on switched power.

Please disregard the dusty state of things. It's in the middle of it's winter service.

Can't take credit for this, previous owner installed a Powerlet outlet in the Steering Yoke. You can buy several powerlet type adapters (SAE plug, USB, etc).

Same here, got the 'bracket' from TriumphTraitor. Quick and easy install, voltmeter and USB port were ordered from ebay. I also keep a battery tender lead on the bike for easy charging if its going to sit... and i have a battery tender branded usb plug that just attaches to the tender lead. I think it was maybe $15 and its direct USB off the bikes battery, cheap and easy.

Nice set up, looks a lot like mine! Got the bracket from TriumphTraitor too! Definitely a nice design and worth every cent! Did you go yellow too with your GIpro?
