PCV and PAIR/SNORKEL Removal

    So I'm kinda new here but just wanted to put this out there.

    Just picked up a Power Commander V for my 2002 VFR. Was curious as to how it would respond or do a workaround if I also did a PAIR delete/snorkel mod.

    Per Dynojet, the maps on their site are dynoed in stock configuration + your mods. Meaning for max gains, NO PAIR Removal and No snorkel delete. Flapper removal still allowed for badass noise!

    There is no performance gain from removing PAIR, as it is simply a passive air flow into the exhaust ports to help unburned gasses, and the ECU shuts it off and on as required (for emissions). I'd leave the snorkel alone too.

    Less weight with the same power is always a performance gain. I'm just being the Devil's advocate here, I know it's not that much weight. I removed the PAIR system when I rebuilt the carbs on my ST1100 just to get rid of a BUNCH of shit. It was quite a pile of parts: diaphragm housings, hoses, metal tubes and brackets. And after scavenging all the Honda screws and bolts I found the diaphragms were starting to deteriorate and fail too, so soon it would have been genuine dead weight.

    Might go 0.025 mph faster, LOL... but I hear you. Mostly we do it to clean up the engine bay... BTDT on ST's and FJR's I have owned and those engine bays could have used a good cleanup.

    Yeah I'm thinking flapper only for a little beefier note. Just wanted to put this out there, from the horses mouth so to speak.

    Yeah so I just bought a lithium battery so there's my 5lb reduction. Doesn't matter much on a 500lb street bike anyway lol

    Snorkel adds to the note. Flapper actually impacts performance.
    On my 2000, disabling the flapper completely removed the 5k flat spot and made the low end much smoother.

    As for weight reduction;
    The little things add up. Over the last month, I have been removing various minor parts that don't do anything and replacing a few parts with lighter/better options.
    So far I have shaved about 20lbs off the bike and I still haven't even removed the (really heavy) center stand or put on the new headers. It is easily possible to reduce the curb weight by 30lbs+ without making any compromises and that will absolutely make a difference. Especially since some of that weight is un-sprung and a bit of that is also rotational mass.
    It will never be a super light race bike, but it can be better.

    I did pair delete as I believe it was causing some AFR confusion with the PCV and autotune. Had the flapper disabled and the snorkel out till I got tired of the noise and found that with some tuning I get better low end (air velocity) and fuel mileage with both back in. Besides the 2bros exhaust is loud enough for me.
