How much oil is there???

Hey to all VFR lovers, question might be stupid and simple but stay with me please. 1996, 750 how much oil goes in at oil change, and dip stick shows two different reading, one side is a little over half to max, and the other side shows above max. Which side is correct. Checking when bike is cold, and leveled. Thanks.

 

I believe it's 3.3 qts w/filter change.

After the change, run the engine a few minutes to be sure the filter is filled; wait about 5 minutes for oil to drain back into pan.

Proper Oil Level check:
Bike on centerstand on level ground.
Remove dripstick, wipe clean, reinsert to threads but do not rethread.
Oil level should be between "Hi / Lo" lines.

 

I think you are threading the dipstick in. That would give the readings you describe. As stated above...do not thread the dipstick in, when checking the oil.

 

As stated and agree with both of em, thou it's 3.4 quarts silly boy

 

Wow, my Maxima takes 4.5 quarts! Didn't know a motorcycle stored that much oil in there.
