Riding for 47 years and the last 14 on 5th gen VFR’s. Got in a low speed accident that shattered my Tibial Plateau in March and totaled my ‘98 VFR s/n 000038. Huge bummer! I’m 66 and decided 47 years and over 250k miles was a good long ride, so I hung up my helmet.
There’s more. Selling off VFR parts, the first guy to come over was 81 y/o and his M1 license at 75!! He rides a Y2K VFR. He’s my new hero!

This should put any age concerns to rest in this thread. One of these days I'll decide to be mature. A birthday anniversary number has nothing to do with it.

Just depends on how you think....or don't think. More people should try thinking......

One of my favorite shirts: "You're only young once, but you can immature forever".

I’m 73 and I still ride all my bikes, including my ‘98 VFR.

@ 75 1/2, and like to work on various bikes in my armada 2 or 3 days a week and usually ride a 16 mile r/t to the shop, prefer smaller bikes like NT650 or VTR250, or my '86 Radian. Horses for courses, it's a short ride...........unless it's pouring rain. :pisser: mostly only ride my Radian, an all-weather beater bike, my first 600, and the least valuable one i have and a great commuter, saving the Hondas for only the fewest, sunniest days.

79 and still loving it. Starting to find the VFR a bit heavy to move around in the shed but that is soon forgotten once on the road.

They're heavy when stationary for anyone. Not so when moving as you said.

I'm only 72, been riding since I was 18 (Honda 50cc Cub rental), got my first bike at 19 (Honda CB160, still one of my best bikes), two 1985 and 1986 Harley Sportsters CH's (Competition Hot) after college, one 1968 Harley Sportster with huge battery and electric start (t00 heavy and slow), 1970 Triumph Bonneville, 1974 Ducati 750 GT (great bike), 12 years not riding, wife bought me a 1985 BMW 1000cc K bike in 1991 after hearing me complain about not having a motorcycle for so long), then a 1993 VFR, followed by 1996 VFR. Started CCS amateur roadracing on a 1988 Cagiva 650 V Twin in 1995 age 48, bought a 1993 Ducati 900 SS for the street, turned pro and raced Ducati 900 SS in AMA Pro Racing Series in the initial Pro Thunder Series in 1998. Team Wreckless Velocity which was top Ducati team in series although our three riders were all over age 50. (I came in 7th ). Team Wreckless raced Ducati 748s in Prothunder Series in 1999 and 2000, I came in 12th and 35th those years) retired from racing, but kept riding on my 1996 VFR until it was wrecked by a joy rider. I still rode my Ducati 900SS and a Ducati 750 Monster until 2010, when I got busy and didn't ride. My old Team Wreckless captain (he's two years older) got me back into it when he suggested we ride to the Moto GP in Austin, Texas in 2016. I purchased my 2004 VFR 800 ABS and had a wonderful ride with him to Austin and the races . My wife, 62 and beautiful, has had 6 bikes since she got me the BMW. She is looking for another bike to ride with me. We rode from Tucson to Laguna Seca three times for the races and plan to do it again next summer. Act your age as you perceive it to be, not others. You only live once!

The better question might be: how many younger riders ride a VFR?

    James! James Bond!
I agree. I've had a '96 VFR since age 38. I had a SuperHawk for a while after my original VFR was runned over in a parking lot.

When I was 49 I stumbled across an 85 vfr750 basket case , bought it to fuck around in my garage with. I sold my last bike 25 years ago when my wife was expecting . So this was just something to mess with .... spent about a year rebuilding the thing , and about a month tuning .
Am now the happiest 50 year old on the planet , when I come home from another session of attacking the curviest mountain roads you could want.
Sure, it doesn't have the performance of a new superbike , but the sound & feel of this carburetted beast is pure sex.

Put almost 200k on my 84
Laguna 9 times then would flip a coin after Sunday which way we should travel, no plans just our bikes, tent and sleeping bag.
Sure wish I had a time machine.
    Enjoy that gem

I just noticed this thread is now approaching its tenth anniversary! And still seems to be going strong. Seventy eight pages must qualify as one of the longer if not longest thread. Is the originator rexbaum still out there and still riding at sixty? What does your wife have to say now. I am quickly approaching 61 and still loving the eighth gen and riding in general, hope to comment on this thread in another ten years A1ADE5A3-07C3-4C03-80E3-F7CC5D57CFC0.jpeg
