I finished the electrical upgrades. New stater, new R/R, made hand soldered wiring harness w/ 30 amp fuses, Hopped up the cooling system with new SPAL rc51 pusher fan, new temp switch, new thermostat, new hose clamps. With a custom mix of, Water-Wetter, De-ionized water & 10% blue Honda anti-freeze.

Running spicy. Huge improvement over the janky harness the previous owner made. Big low end power improvement. Running about 25 to 30 degrees cooler. So while I was whipping around way too fast on local streets, an SUV blew a stop sign. I dropped it while avoiding her @ about 35 mph.

I believe this is a R&G frame bobbin setup.

    Can someone confirm that?

Ouch! Sorry man. I've had life experences like that. You are feeling great, flying high, on top of the world. Then, Wham! Your sick to your stomach and all the good feelings are gone.
You did not mention any injury to yourself, so I trust that you are all in one piece.
I hope that you can repair her to a point where you can enjoy the ownership again.

You need to leave it just like that and put War Wagon stickers on it :axe: I'm sure you can easily find a machine shop to spin up a couple new sliders out of delrin stock and also the rod to straighten that back out. The Lee's Cycles sticker is pretty cool, Jeremy Toye is a really good dude.

They look like my R&Gs but I have a different year bike (97). Mine say R&G with the website on the end. I don't know if they all do.

I was trying to identify the bobbins so I could order a new kit. You think I can just bend it straight again?

Thanks for the words. I'm happy to report the VFR is in decent shape. The VFR wasn't cherry to begin with. I'm good too, I lost some skin, but that's what I get for riding in shorts and without gloves. Must wear gear every time, even if your just going to shoot around the hood.

Those look like R&G sliders, the kit is around $120.00. You could prolly get a piece of stainless rod threaded and some delrin stock turned down by a machinist for a fraction of that. If you bend the rod back, it's most likely going to break, or, it will be weak and snap easily the next time. Just save the spacers and reuse them.

Dude. $160 for the R&G kit. I'm going to take your advice and try to have a machine shop here in SD duplicate the parts.

This can't be stressed enough. I got off easy with a few scrapes and bumps. Could have been much worse..... I know better.

There is near total disrespect for motorcyclists (and bicyclists) on the road it seems (and is). I NEVER ride without all the gear and ride with the philosophy that every cage is there to try to kill me. I won't ride in town, on an interstate highway, or in traffic to amount to anything. So, all that leaves for me is riding over the mountain I live in to the other side, through two stop lights, then, I'm in two lane mountain twisties which is what I have my VFR for. My VFR is for recreation, not transportation. If not for my location situation, I would not ride a motorcycle. It's the drivers that kill or main cyclists more than we kill ourselves. Sad but true. Either way is not good. That's how I do it.
