Need a map for a PCIII

    I have a 2006 VFR. I recently added a Two Brothers exhaust, K&N air filter, a PCIII, and an O2 sensor eliminator. I currently do not have a precise map for this set up and i am 400 miles from the nearest tuning center. If anyone out there in VFR-land is running this setup, and has had a custom map done, could you please help me out.

    Ok, well I have been doing lots of reading in these forums. I read in another topic that a guy had paid like $350 to get his bike tuned and custom mapped. i did not realize that it costs that much to get a custom map done. In which case, I would be willing to pay to get the proper map from someone. After all, it saves me money and like 400 miles to the tuning center. So if anyone out there has a map for a 2006 VFR with TB exhaust,K&N air filter, and O2 eliminator, please post on here or email me @ marcdubuc76msn.com

    I don't see any map for the Two Brothers, but I would equate them to Staintunes. If you go to the Power Commander website they have free downloads for that with an aftermarket air filter and O2 sensors...

    The free mapping downloads are at the bottom of the page... If you try it and it's not quite right, but I bet it is, you can always contact them on that site. I'd bet they send you the precise map for your set-up.They answered my questions via e-mail even late at night! (I'm in Florida, I assume they are west coast based)

    Thanks Stan, the Staintune map is the one I am currently running. I emailed Dynojet to see if they have a specific map for this setup. So I will just cross my fingers and wait for a reply. Just wish there was a Tuning center closer to my location, i would get it custom mapped. I like perfection! LOL

    You can get the joy of riding a on a great road trip to a tuning center and a chance to compare before and after on the way there and back? :rolleyes:

    just thinkin....

    I've got a stock bike, but do have a tuning fork, and a guitar tuner :wink:

    I also have a stock set-up. There's a harsh flat spot in the 4-5krpm range. I'll probably get the PCIII USB with the O2 sensor resistors and I'll probably be happy with that. From what I understand, the PCIII is enough and most people don't have to do the PAIR valve block, although some do it anyway. Other than that flat spot I love riding this bike. I've had it 6 days and already have 500 miles on it. Love having the bags and liners too, although I have not used the liners yet.

    Is there anything you think is wrong with the Staintunes map? What do you notice, if anything, as far as glitches or hiccups?

    Hey Stan,

    In regards to running the Staintunes map, well there is a very noticeable improvement from stock. My only issue is with the Two Brothers exhaust. It is a 4-2-1, which means it only uses right side of the exhaust, where I believe the Staintune has a 4-2-2. I am just curious if the difference in back pressure would make a difference in the mapping. I too just bought my VFR a month ago, and have put on over 2000kms. But winter is coming, and it will soon be time to park it. DARN IT!

    I think the difference would be negligible at best. Whether it's 4-2-2 or 4-2-1, the total amount of back pressure from the after market exhausts systems must maintain a certain limit to the amount ( or be equal in total amount) of back pressure they exert on an engine.

    Also, an open air box system relieves a LOT of exhaust system pressure. So again, I think your concern is splitting hairs, so to speak. If you don't see any flat spots, backfiring, or staggering at any rev, I would say you have a good map.

    Problem with Two Brothers is that they are a relative newcomer. Given time they'll have a map for them. You may become a test rat for Dynojet. I was one when I had my FZ1 and wanted the Kisan turn signal cancelers. The model they said would work on my bike didn't work, so they used me as their guinea pig, for free, until I had a unit that worked properly.

    In other words, Dynojet may send you multiple free maps that they design and ask you which is best. :biggrin: Or you can be your own test subject and try the different maps they already have on their site and see if there is any one that stands out from the rest.

    I ride year round. I put a good 15,000 miles a year on a motorcycle. I plan to keep this one for a while. Sorry you have to garage yours for the winter. Keep it in shape though!
