I just bought this bike recently for a good deal. Bike is in good condition with only 12k miles. The only thing I need to do is replace the rear tire. I'm planning on going with a set from Bikebandit. $5o rebate if I get the set so that's why I'm opting for it. Total cost is $270 before rebate. Planning on going with these.

Bridgestone Battlax T30 Evo Sport Touring Motorcycle Tire
    Front, 120/70-17, Radial, 17, Tubeless, 58, W
    Rear, 180/55-17, Radial, 17, Tubeless, 73, W

I apologize for being ignorant, they say tubeless. Just want to make sure I don't need to buy tubes or anything additional with these tires to replace.

    You're fine. No tubes required.....

I see your bike is red, so just a curiosity... the 2000s were yellow... does yours have a fast idle lever on the left handlebar controls?

Yup, no tubes to worry about.
I am running Battleax T31's and so far they have been great tires. I have 3,500 miles on the set and they seem to be holding up well.

I don't have any fast lever that I know of.

What we're saying to you is, the 2000 year model VFR800 wasn't offered in red, maybe it's a 2001?

I think that the date code digit in the VIN number is the 10th digit and the Honda code for 2000 was "Y" and the code for 2001 was "1".

Does the bike have HECS3 written on the side panel? I'm tempted to try the T31 evos next time too.

Yeah, just curiosity, ---- the 5th gens models were the MK1 ('98/'99) with a fast idle lever/no cat, with slight larger dia header/Open circuit ECU, FI fueling.. .
The MK2 (generally known '00/'01 yellow/red US) had the wax fast idle thing for start up(no fast idle lever) , cat header/and the closed circuit ECU for FI fueling...

Would the 98-99's be a better bike without the CAT etc?

Generally a low mile '99 is the holy grail, but then on the MK2s most people upgrade the header and plenty other stuff, so it really doesn't matter --- all 5th gens are awesome...

Gotta admit, I do like having the fast idle lever vs the wax idle unit. I find it handy and it requires no maintenance. Vs the wax unit eventually dies over time and needs replacing...

You won't need to buy tubes, just plenty of Advil due to Bridgestone riding like they're made of solid rock. Otherwise, they're good tires for other people. I'll never buy another one. They have too much good competition that doesn't beat me up.
