I always think of Canada as being the love child of England and France after they had a drunken one night stand and England just left it to grow up by itself with its bigger brother, America, the rebel of the family.

 

When we lived in Toronto during the 70’s, one of the famous commentators said; “The relationship between Canada and the US was like sleeping next to an elephant, you never knew when it was going to roll over!

 

Yes. And that phrase has become famous itself.
