Yes, I've read all the reg/rec threads. The bike is new to me (a 2000 Fi-Y) so I have no idea if the reg/rec has been done or how old the battery is, so please excuse the (potentially dumb) question.

I charged the battery overnight on a smart charger, and after being allowed to rest it showed 12.7V With the ignition on and the headlights on, the voltage immediately dropped to 12.1V and falling very slowly. The bike starts first time, every time and as soon as it is running the voltage at the battery terminals rises very rapidly to 14.45V at fast idle (2000rpm) while the bike is warming up. Increasing revs does not increase the voltage.

On switching off, the battery initially sits at 13.2V (surface charge), before dropping slowly to 12.7/12.8V where it remains.

My question: does this indicate a) a healthy battery, and b) a 'smart' reg/rec (to be yielding 14.4V at 2000 rpm)? And should I therefore rest easy?
