Seat cowl. Just a little thing...

I'm out on the bike and I want to get that side stand pad out that's under the tool roll. I can't release the seat pad, because the seat cowl is on, and to remove it, I need an Allen key.

1. Which is in the tool roll.
2. Which is under the seat.
3. Which is under the seat cowl.
4. Which is held down by two Allen bolts.
5. For which, I need the Allen key.
6. Goto 1.

Good idea, what length bolts did you buy?

Much spendier than the bolts you used, but they work well and should hold up just fine.

 

Did you have to drill out were the stock bolts go in the cross member?

 

Yes, the Sargent pins require it. I was on the fence, I don't like mods that can't be 'undone' or that permanently modify the bike. I am committed to solo riding and have removed the passenger foot pegs and brackets also. All in all, I am happy with the quick release pins, I keep my spare visor and waterproof layers under the cowl (the passenger seat lives in my garage, not on the bike).

 

Yes I have looked at the set up you have, it is expensive to do and I don't like doing stuff that can't be undone either, I'm considering a top box but I really don't like them, storage would be very handy though and a place to lock stuff away when off the bike to eat etc, the helmet can be locked on at the side.
I need to get rid of the condom mirrors and fit some bar risers soon.

Looks good Wiggo, those are smaller than I thought I thought they'd be and fit pretty well. I have to ask - What fairing bolts are you using? (the dimpled head in the foreground peaked my interest)
