finally did a valve adjustment job today (and still not done). What a pain in the ass that is. 3 valves were too tight, 2 of them very tight, so I had to do a little work. I can hear one of them is too loose now (and I did recheck after turning it over a few times). Better too loose than too tight though and I am not taking it apart again...

Edit: so I did break down and disassemble again. I decided I would always regret it if I didn't do it right.

I have had the brakes bled. Tech who did the work used a compressor and a pump to get it all done. We had a good chat while he was doing it. Put in a new diaghram and he thinks the fluid is original from when the bike was new. It has stained the rear reservoir yellow/brown.
I have only had the bike for 10 months.
Next job is the headstock bearings and while that is apart, deal with the front forks and upgrade the shock.

Modified the pillion seat cover to store a first aid kit.
Easy to do, I just drilled 4 5/8 holes in the sides of the internal structure so I could pass a small luggage strap I bought from Ebay, making it easy to strap a small bag like a first aid kit into the pillion seat cover.

The first aid kit is the Survival "vehicle" first aid kit. It just fits into the cover and when you put it onto the bike, there is light pressure on the close so it's getting a mild squeeze against the bike's tail. The size of this bag is 21 x 19 x 11cm.
This first aid kit I usually have in my car, but I decided to post a pic of it to show the largest bag/kit that will just fit. I usually carry the smaller "handy" first aid kit.

Quick plug for the survival first aid kits. They come in a quality carry case, water resistant zips and clip on/off straps and good components, like the shear's in them are the type the ambulance personal use for cutting thru shirts/pants for example.
Most kits come with those small cheap crappy scissors that can't even cut they way out of their own wrapping.
Aust company, but they sell globally.

Got the yearly MOT done today on the 800 - sailed through as expected. Bike is working beautifully.
Next up is one of the RVF's - just haven't quite decided which one..

The photos didn’t work. I would like to have a solo cowl storage. The Corbin smuggler would be perfect. But I may never be able to afford it.

Nice looking upgrades. I like that idea of a first-aid kit tucked and secured in the seat cover.

I did a clutch fluid change on my new-to-me RC36 yesterday, and it was certainly due for a new fluid. Aaand now I'm having trouble getting it to bleed properly, as it's just shy of releasing fully. Got some good tips on the 3rd gen forums, so here's hoping.

I adjusted my timing again (third time). Fun, fun, fun. First time, one of the valves was obviously way too loose, 2nd time I must not have had the timing marks exactly lined up because the cams were not properly aligned. 3rd time, success finally, running better than ever. Just for info, most of the valves were just fine. Out of 16 valves, only 3 were off and 1 by only a little. 2 were very tight.

32k. I bought it 9 months ago with 31k and am making no assumptions about what maintenance has been done.

Put new shoes on this Thursday, might have had a few more miles but I'm doing a bit of a road trip in August so it felt better to have fresh rubber.

Started vinyl wrapping the spare fairing, so it can go on the bike.
Doing the front fender in one piece, is a pain in the area just south of the lower back.

20190714_121047.jpg mounted up a tidy tail. Competition Werkes. Went on fairly easily except that the place to mount the plate light wasn't big enough and took a lot of filing.

Fitted a voltmeter and a USB socket, filled and repainted a hole in the left fairing where someone had put a random switch, carbon wrapped the instrument pod and resprayed the engine cover...
