Recovered the seat, started to replace all the fairing bolts and fixings with new stainless ones.

Where’d you get the set of bolts?
    Are they bike specific?

We’re turning this thread into a Katana one.
It’s not that fast compared to all the new offerings. 140hp and weighs more than the VFR.
It is also very long, so a pig in tight stuff. Even with the shortened wheel base due to GSXR forks and swing arm.
The mad cams make it idle high and rough, and with the loud muffler it turns heads.
Did a 200km trip on my mates S1000XR a few weeks ago, now that is scary. It even comes with a “lack of talent compensation mode” map, my mate hates it when I call it that.
That thing can out corner, out stop and out perform the VFR 100 fold.

Just picked up a few spare parts.
Basically an entire bike except for the frame. 17000 miles on the engine, freshly powder coated wheels, brand new brake rotors and chain kit and 2 exhausts. Plus all the other bits.
    Less than $700,-

    Not a bad deal

New high level exhaust, fairing completely removed to get rid of all the old zombie wiring someone had added, fished the sidelight bulbs out of the headlight housing (two had fallen out at some point, it seems), new fasteners and well nuts all round (copper greased) and replaced the front turn signals with clear ones...

Last evening and night I drained the brakes and clutch, removed the levers, calipers, brake lines and cleaned the clutch line. What an utter rusted mess I was greeted with..

I did a quick cleanup with brake cleaner and when I tried to move the bike, I laid her down. Note to self: When taking bike off the centerstand, sit/stand on the bike, not next to it!

Only the footpeg broke and the mirror bent, wich I could bend back into position.. it looks like the peg was a little corroded from the inside.. maybe I want sturdier pegs :/

This morning I built a makeshift service stand to be able to work on front and rear at the same time..[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Nothing dramatic just checked tire pressures on all the bikes, the vfr has been getting a lot of love lately so I dusted off the Bking and took a ride. Still a beast to ride and a whole different level of fun.

Replaced clutch plates, clutch springs and cover gasket and replaced the oil and filter too.

Then stabbed myself in the thumb because I slipped with my gasket scraper.

I need to do that same chore in a few months. Holding out for winter when I change the oil anyway.

Got my new tankgrips today. And got most of the spare bike ready for paint, so the parts can go on the main bike.
Having a spare bike really is a great luxury. I can do a complete repaint with only about one hour of downtime on my main bike, to swap the tank and faring when it's done.

Nah the blood was mostly contained in my glove and on the gasket scraper. Still have a little piece missing of my thumb but that'll grow back. It already closed in 2 days so I can say I heal really fast :) Clutch feels a little harder because of the stronger springs but I'm getting used to it.

    Now on-topic:
I went out for a ride to the northern neighbours (The Netherlands)
I saw the sea from up close with my bike.

Because I need to go away for some days, I've placed her nice and cozy back in the garage, made her clean and also cleaned that chain of hers. Nothing much but I know she will appreciate this.

P.S.: Other oil stain is not made by any of my vehicles. It was there before I rented this garage. Just to make some things clear. ;)[IMG]

Thats some hell of a picture! I replaced more than a few clutches in my existence, on my personal bikes I go above and beyond (read money don't matter.) I did the clutch on my high mileage 91 vfr 750, and to be honest, I only felt the difference around 125mph or so, which we really don't spend alot of time doing. My barn find 93 vfr I did the clutch just out of a maintenance issue, replaced the starter sprag clutch too on that one. My Ninja 500 (GPZ500 to you) I wore out the clutch at 20,000 as it was slipping, I go for oem replacements all the time with my things, I do the springs too. Anyway, nice post and beautiful bike/scenery.

Left house at 6:45AM heading for ACH 29 miles away. Rode from La Canada to Wrightwood, had a nice sandwich at the Green House Cafe, a gas fill, and rode back to La Canada and home by 11:20. Did right at 200 miles.

Giving VFR a little clean and lube now. Had a problem with my Garmin Nuvi760 - screen locked up, but I'm rebooting it now.

Nice morning on a great road.
