    Hey Guys,

Just picked up my 2nd viffer a few weeks ago. The sad thing is, is that it is completely stock... I want a much louder exhaust (v4 screamming!) But, the bike is old and it's hard to find anything for sale. I found my perfect sound and volume level , but I never used this brand before. Does anyone have any experience with them? I used to have a 2007 vfr with custom titanium header to carbon leo vince cans!!! OMG SO GREAT. BTW, now I have a a 99FI.

Let me know if you have anything for sale, or any opinions on MIVV.

    Best,

    SMVFR

Pretty much everything for the 5th gen is out of production now but I see these and Scorpion exhaust available on e-bay so all hope is not lost. I've never heard a system that sounded bad on a VFR....ever.....even with no muffler they sound great! That said, I think teh "gold standard" would probably be Staintune, if you can find one.

For the money, go with one of the many Delkevic or Black Widows on eBay. They are affordable and high quality. You can learn from my experience....I bought an 18inch stainless. Sounded much more growly , with a nice low tone...but I did hit a phase where I wanted a more insane sound...so I bought a 9inch racing carbon fiber version from the same company (Delkevic). The 9 inch sounds like Satan is riding a cigarette boat down the road. Totally crazy sound....but honestly you will absolutely need earplugs to ride...and after a full day of riding you might grow a little tired of it. I still own it...but I settled on the 18 since my modified airbox also makes some noise. If I was to recommend the perfect size to you given my experience, I would say 14inch is the sweet spot. Hope this helps.

    Really?

Black Widow and Delkevic both make full systems. GPR has their entire lineup with midpipes for RC46. And there are at least a dozen more companies like that.

The most difficult part for me, was narrowing down the options.

Yup, I'm just in the middle of fitting a Black Widow 300mm tri-oval high level end can, and as and when I get around to it, I will replace the headers and decat the thing too.

Same story here. Got a 350mm GP can from Black Widow on there and will be putting the full system on when I get the time.
I was going to go with a GPR Deeptone because it looks good, but the BW just sounds so much better.

For the money, Delkevic is the way to go. Saves weight and helps very low end torque. Doesn't do anything at higher rpm's

About $5 difference here between Delkevic and Black Widow, and I have used BW in the past and love the quality.

OK, so that's the Black Widow high level system on, and bit of silver VHT paint on the collector...

Looks nice. I really don't see why people buy expensive slip on's. To each their own.....

They are not exactly expensive. And trust me, once you try a good one, you will understand.

Unlike cars, riding a motorcycle is a full sensory experience. The sound makes a difference. A good exhaust can form the sound to a pleasant note without making it ridiculously loud. At highway speeds, I barely hear mine. No drone or anything. But in the twisties, it gives me a really nice sound that adds to the experience. At lower RPM, it produces a deep rumble that is never annoying. And a good exhaust note will turn heads in positive ways. I can't tell you how often I pull into gas stations and random car drivers come over and tell me how great it sounds.

And lets face it. On every VFR except the 2002 V-tec, the stock exhaust looks absolutely horrible. Especially high level exhausts are a huge aesthetic upgrade. Makes the rear look less bulky and shows off the pretty wheel.

    There really are no downsides.

I have a cheap exhaust and have hasd an expensive titanium exhaust. I wasted money on the expensive exhaust. They both did the same thing. No sound is fine with me. Sound is not why I buy an aftermarket slip on. The only person I'm trying to impress is me.

    A lot of assumptions there.

Good does not mean expensive. BW exhausts are cheap as dirt and can rival any brand I have ever seen in quality.
And who is talking about impressing people? Did you miss the part where I detailed how good sound improves the experience of the rider?

If you wan't no sound, that's another thing. There are VERY quiet aftermarket exhausts. But they are not cheap.
The stock can is quiet, but not quiet enough that you won't hear it. It's main problem (apart from looking like a bargain bin reject), is that the sound it does make is not very pleasant. It is specifically engineered too do one thing; Meet noise regulations. Honda knows full well that in doing so, they made it sound and look like cheap garbage. That is why it is so easy to swap out. They know most will do so.

And there are many aftermarket cans that are no louder than stock, but looks infinitely better. You may not care, but a lot of us think looks matter.

Wow, there's a lot of mind-reading and assuming going on here. Whatever you want to believe is fine.

Almost any aftermarket exhaust sounds good on the V4. I like a nice sound out of every bike I own. Some want it as quiet as it gets but for me the sound is part of the experience.

Dyno verifiable increase in power, removal of excess weight, relocation to a better location.

Both my Delkevic cans sound great and are of great quality. Unfortunately the one I use is just a haaair too quiet and the other one is too loud..lol. That 14inch tri oval is just about perfection. Then again, "too quiet" with ear plugs in is often plenty loud to everyone else.
