Carbs now synched & the bike is running lovely. I love using the 90' tool as I no longer burn my hands in the V... Should have bought it years ago.
It now starts first click & idles really well with the bonus of no fuel leaking any more - lol.

Rear brakes all done - total strip / rebuild & new pads.
Front brakes & lines now bled & working perfectly.
Fairings & tank to be put on (have to find some brackets & bolts - ha, ha, ha,) so almost there. Hopefully this week..

Just realised need new number plate - argh

A bit more done - into the finishing straight.. Fairings on & complete.

Had to make a couple of plastic brackets, & repair a small crack - but getting good at that now. I use Plastex & it really does the job.

    P1080849.JPG

This leaves me with a few jobs to do.

    1. The Tank NEEDS to be stripped, sanded & repainted, - will order the full sticker kit from Image works this week. Basically the tank was badly stored & micro bubbles are in the paint. The rust is now cured & the inside looks like new but the paint will need fixing at some point. The glue used on the old now removed tank pad also has killed the paint in that area. This can wait a few months ... - I'd rather ride the bike.
    2. The Rear H panel between the lights I had to repair in 3 areas - again used plastex. This has had primer & a single coat of base (White). It needs 2 coats more of base & 3 coats of clear - to be done at the same time as the tank.
    3. Forks need stripping & rebuilding - Nothing actually wrong with them except I don't know when this was last done so not a priority. Have all the bits but time is against me - lol
    4. Change the tyres. Date coded 02/02 (feb 02 WTF!)

So to get the bike on the road I need to:

Machine polish & wax the front tank cover
    fit it on the tank,
    install & plumb the tank,
    Fit the air tubes,
    Fit the seats,
Check the torque settings on all 3 brakes & axles
    Fit Number plate

BTW, Cool bike lift you got there. I need one. I have the front and rear stands.

Can you post a link to who makes that lift or some other pictures. I can probably make something up if I cant find it here in Thailand.

Thats the Abba Skylift - not cheap, but very versatile & adjustable - the fact you can move it with the bike on it is a bonus..

    So a little more updates...

Not really good news but light at end of the tunnel.

Fuel tank petcock is 'still' leaking fuel - even after rebuild & turned OFF.
This is also causing the fuel to come through the floats (think I have a stuck float) & fill the cylinders specifically No: 1 - ARGHHHHHH
The front brakes need 're-bleeding' - quick job that I'll do this week

    However,

a used petcock is on the way to me - should arrive this week & I've also just found out I can buy a new one !! Thought they were NLA. May end up buying one anyway..

The tank is off & so I'll clean up all the plugs

Other than that its pretty ready to go.. - Once I've run it around the block to check it..
Please bare in mind this had been sat in a garage & not moved for about 6 years - & its only done 400miles since 2006 !
    I'm optimistic... ha, ha, ha

So some pics of a very clean bike...

Sweet! Good luck with the peacock replacement, knowing that they are still available I know I would be buying a new one and keep the used one as A spare.

I suspect that unless this 'used' one is in really good condition then that's exactly what will happen.
I also have a spare tank (minus the petcock) so will potentially do that as well.

    Oh,

Only found out that I could get a brand new one AFTER I'd bought the used one !!!

After riding it today - It is lovely.... Had a few rides on it today - I'd almost forgotten how fast they lean - I've gotten used to the VFR800 (the Fat Bus) & having to muscle it about !!

Would you give a report on the quality of the decals from Image Works?
Any idea if they have a set specific to the RC45 ?
    Beautiful machine.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Brian

Don't know if they have them for the 45 ¬! Its a little bit rarer than the 35 - lol

Onto the decals from Image Works.

I have no previous experience with decals so please bear that in mind - There is a learning curve to fitting them. Once I'd 'realised' that, I found them excellent to the point I have ordered another set for another bike from them.

The colours are a great match - no variations from what I'm expecting & I'm very, very happy with the quality.

Now it does seem like I am recommending these (& I am) but I have nothing else to compare them too - I've never used other companies graphics.

Replacement petcock turned up yesterday & was a little disappointed that it was missing a couple of internal parts - arghhhh
However, I stripped my existing petcock after draining the tank and switched over the good parts to the 'new' body.
The inside looks a million % better, although very dirty on the outside but nothing that won't clean up.

On refilling the tank & reassembling the petcock it seems to work perfectly so phase 1 complete.
