Just was wondering what is being used in the way of fork oil? Also was wondering who has done what with rebuilding the forks to make them even better like springs and re valving? I have a 97 so I'm not sure what the diferance is in the other versions but any insight wouldbe great.

my y2k is going to race tech for front fork rebuild. getting springs for my weight and emulators and their very high dollar oil. supposed to be like getting a new bike! they are worldwide so you can get parts most places. look up your model bike and parts online. www.racetech.com

You can't go wrong with having your front-end redone. I had my Y2K VFR done first at the dealer using Race Tech valves, springs, and US-1 fork oil. I immediatly notice huge improvement of the ride after that. When it can time to rebuild my fork again, I sent my forks to Race Tech and they had it back to me within a week. The improvement of control is well worth the upgrade.

Thanks guys, good to hear that is a good way go. I'm looking at that as I write, seems now I need to figure the spring rate and valve options,wt of oil, still a good thing since the weather is lousy it's good time to fiddle with the Viffer.

The race Tech web site will help you find out exactly what you will need based on your weight and type of riding you perfer.

There are other companies that will also do fork upgrades as well. One thing I want to point out is the VFR forks has two sets of valves, one for rebound and the other for compression and are only adjustable at the time of installation by the use of shims. It is best to replace both sets at the same time.

Was looking at a picture to picture break down on the install of the valves. Saw what you are talking about. Good thing to have brought that up as I'm sure I would have had to think long and hard on what to do, they also show some drilling being done. there was never any mention to that earlier so I've a call into race tech support to figure the low down on all this. by the time I'm done doing this,I should have a very nice fork setup, next will be the rear shock. anyone know where I can find an Ohlins? seems the G4 are getting hard to find, but anything worth doing right is worth the time and trouble, did I mention price?
