We are thinking a lot alike. I've had a pair of riding pants in my cart on revzilla for almost a month... just waiting to see if I'll see a nice deal on them before pulling the trigger. Also been shopping for a used GoPro 5 since I figure with the GoPro 7 just coming out, a lot of people will be looking to upgrade. I prefer the 5 because it has a removable battery. No comms unit as there is too much variety and I really don't have a good idea about any.
Been counting the days. June cant get here fast enough.

P.S. It seems like the cost of gas has been going up every week for the past 4 weeks. I'm sure sure prices will hit $4 by the summer.

I too would like to find a Hero 5. As for comm units, I ended up with a cardo SmartPack - 2 units for about $130 each - when you update the firmware, it has the same functionality of the pactalk units - the DMC mesh which allows up to 15 riders (not that I'll EVER ride with that many peeps).

Music is outstanding and phone calls are a breeze while riding.

Mad doc, I know the new gopro 7 is pricey but the stabilization is why I bought. I will never use the 4k but I will try the 1440 at 120fm per second. but it too has a removalable battery. I ordered the bike mount but with the clip ons I don't know if it will work. I also ordered the suction cup adapter that they claim can withstand up to a wind speed of 150mph. I paid $339 at Costco for a bundle kit with the gopro 7. I bought the black but the silver and the white are less money. I do not know the details but I think the difference is the resolution capabilities up to 4k. They may have the same stabilization capabilities. You should check it out.

Igronk why did you hex us like that? :) No rain suit for me! It is bad Karma!;-) It is like saying in the restaurant biz on a very slow night ""that is the last table", and then you get a couple that wants to come in at closing to have the place to themselves for a 3 hour romantic dinner!:darklord::lynch:,

I hope my Olympia gear pulls threw in case of a shower. I have a Olympia jacket with a rain liner and my new Olympia air glide 4 pants claim to be water tight with the liner worn inside or out. I know I will be wet if it comes to a down pour. My problem is that my old Wolfman Tank bag does not have a rain cover that I can find. It is 15yrs old and a great bag. I will have to go to there site and see if I can get a generic one since all of my electronics or batteries will be in the bag. The Viking soft luggage I have has rain covers, but they will never work well in a down pour. That is only a concern going into the ride and out since I will leave and all of my bags except the tank bag in the cabin. And all of you are welcome to leave any unnecessary luggage and gear in the cabin while we go out to ride. I'm more concerned about wetting my sheets if the beer drinking gets out of hand! Kinda scared about the mattress now in the cabin at the site. How long and how much of shit has happened on them?;-) Lysol spray and some lice powder may be in order.

I have the sena 30K so with mess or Bluetooth we should be ok to communicate. I wish that sena was waterproof so we will see. I have not really used it since I ride solo. I only used it on one trip bluetoothing for music and phone on a solo ride. We will have to play with our comm sets that Friday night.

Mad Doc, I let you in another site to look at while shopping. Rocky Mountain ATV. They are based in Payson Ut. And will match any deal on Rezilla. They are great and I have used them for years. They also offer cash back on all items purchased and have free shipping after $50 0r $75. Look at them before buying anything on any other site. Including oil, Tires, Filters etc. They are and off road site but carry anything on road that you need.

The rain suit is for my trip to the east coast at the end of June. I've got a suction cup for my old Gopro as well and that sucker sticks through anything. I put a lanyard on the camera just in case, but have never had to use it.

Shit, I have to quit window shopping. I just pulled the trigger on a Schuberth C3 Pro Modular Motorcycle Helmet. $399 vs. $629. On close out. I bought it at Rocky Mountain ATV because I have a Cheap HJC modular that is noisy as shit and composite only. This one is suppose to be one of the quietest around and quality German engineering. I keep telling myself that this was a good buy. Safety is expensive as shit. I also order more items for the go pro. Help me Jesus I only have so much credit! ;-) Damnit, This is the only reason that I should have a wife is to control me. If so I would hear "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU BUY AND HOW CAN WE AFFORD IT? You better get a second job or sell that damn thing!" :)

LOL! You will like the Schuberth - it is a very quiet helmet. I am going to replace my noisy Sedici in July.

I've seen some reviews and the stabilization in definitely a great thing. I guess my source was wrong about the battery.

Thanks for this. I've looked up the site, and yes the pair of pants I had in mind were price matched. I might even ride down there since it isn't too far away and I'm always wary of buying items without sizing first. I never seem to get my sizes right.

Back home, I would just ride out the rain, the after that continue riding until I was dry again.

You are really pulling out the stops. I myself have been thinking of a new helmet as my HJC is just as loud as yours. But in my case, I'm not sure I can justify it to the missus, so I just turn up my music and it helps me. I have to find a way to sneak it in though...

Mad Doc, They have a sizing guarantee on your pants like revzilla. They will ship them in a couple of days and if they do not fit send them back and look at another size. I do not think that they have a showroom for you to go to. They are an online company and only use the website for sales.

As far as your helmet you ride with is a full face rather than a Modular. Modular helmets are much louder than full face do to the nature of design. Noise was not the #1 factor but more so safety and comfort. Though a hardship and on credit I cant wait to see the benefits. Take Care.

Well, I missed a bullet. The Shuthbert helmet does fit my dome but the latching system is for smaller necks. I am trying to get a refund. It was close out but they said they would so I will see. I really wanted that helmet at that price. Spending $400 and being uncomfortable is not an option. I still have not got a email for the return shipping. They said they lost their server, and was trying to recover all emails and orders on the site. Crossing my fingers!;-)

On another topic I got almost every attachment I could use for the Go Pro Black Hero 7. All half price, and saved about $200 bucks. Suction cup, Ultra mount case, bar attachment, extra battery and charger, carrying case, head mount, 2 extra micro cards (three total 2, 32gig and a 64gig at high speed capture rates), adhesive helmet mount, etc... Also signed up for $4.99 a month insurance and unlimited cloud storage.

    Reading through this...

I am doing a ride there the weekend after July.

But I will be in Colorado for an annual commemorative mountain climb on June 13th. With these dates, I could ride with you all, go to my base camp for the night of the 12th, hike 13th, home 14th.

Let me know site costs. If I cannot get one near you all, I would camp in nearest National Forest and meet you for the day riding.

Finally got my GoPro and did a test run. See short clip at the link below.

Camera was mounted on the windshield. Any thoughts on this? Would a helmet mount be better?

    4 weeks and counting...

Doc, the video looks great on the windshield! my video on the windscreen was too shaky, but that's because I have an old gopro with little to no image stabilization. Also, what software did you use to edit the video?

ONLY 5 weeks folks!! I'm chomping at the bit to get out for a multi-day ride!
