New Rider First Bike 98 VFR800

Just got my first bike.Got a bit of riding experience through the years but finally decided on getting my own one.A gen 5 98 VFR800. As I am new to motorcycle ownership any tips on VFR ownership would be greatly appreciated.See image attached[/IMG]

looks mint (guess I will find out once I pick it up next month once I get back from work.)

Just be careful. A lot of power for a new rider.

 

4 things a new owner needs:

multimeter

accurate tire gauge and small compressor

battery charger

 

Get yourself a factory service manual.

Great will do.I have seen one on Ebay.I think it was a haynes manual.I had these for the golf and old jettas i restored in the past and they were good.

Thanks.I will post on the introduction once I have picked up the bike and can take some more detailed photos.As far as riding experience goes I learned to ride bikes at age 17.Incidently the first bike I learned to ride on was a 1985 VF1000R belonging to my uncle.LOL I think he would have killed me had he found out.Suprisingly did not have issues with such a heavy bike even though I am not the biggest guy.I rode a few other bikes as well (yamaha TZR125 and a Honda 250 Spada) these were great but I felt more comfortable on the VF.I guess I was always looking to have a VFR as I loved the looks and the sound,I am a very conservative rider who is more interested in just cruising about on something reliable,and therefore I feel this bike is perfect for me,I think its something I can grow with and enjoy for years to come.I am doing the MSF course in Switzerland in June and will be practicing the entire summer.I found this particular bike at a dealer close to my workplace and after sitting on it for the first time and seeing the price I just had t have it lol.It seems to be in concourse condition.I have already ordered crash bobbins in the hope that I keep it that way.
