Here to learn as much as I can to have the best experience with my new bike. Got a steal of a deal on a new leftover that I couldn't pass up. Michigan weather will have it sitting for another month or so.

Hi and welcome to the MadHouse:Welcome:

You are not alone in spotting the recent deals appearing on VFRs. Even if you cannot get the bike out at the moment it does not stop you planning trips, or at least drawing up a list of places you want to ride to. If you also bagged the full luggage system, these VFRs are a great choice for long trips.

    Have fun ATGATT

    Welcome!

I usually change a lot on bikes, such as exhaust, seat, power commander, windshield, bar risers, grips.... but the only changes I’ve made to this bike is a slightly taller windscreen to get rid of what little buffeting there was, and a Two Brothers slip on. Oh, and I’ve got the Honda Quickshifter.
With those couple of changes, the bike is amazing! Well, even without those changes the bike is amazing. This just makes it amazing-er!

    Enjoy!

Welcome. I just can't seem to find any of these deals within a reasonable travel distance to pick it up. I am in the market for a white one, preferably with side and top luggage. Mine is getting long I the tooth and ready to put to bed. You will love the bike I am sure. I haven't ridden one but I am sure it is just as comfortable as the 6th gen, and mine had done me extremely well on many quite long and hard tours.

Soon as the snow is gone, I am sure we will hear very little from you. A good thing for you.

A mere two and a half hour drive across the state. We are neighbors. Rain and warmer weather in the forcast will wash the salt off the road soon!

I too live in Michigan and took delivery of a new 2015 as well. So far I have purchased a real carbon front fender extender and rear hugger. (Pyramids Plastics in the UK) I also purchased a Scorpion carbon fiber exhaust. Attached is a pic of the exhaust I got from another rider. Also got new levers from Strada CNC7 Long with carbon fiber inlet and black R&G radiator guard. I've got lots more mods planned like the OEM rear carrier.

I got my bike in January and the past few months have been brutal, but it has given me plenty of time to research the mods. ;)

Grand Rapids, Mi area here. Where did you get your new ride? How far did you have to go?

Like said earlier, Welcome to the mad house. Opinions and advise are aplenty here at any forum. Being a 2015 check out the 8th gen and all of the forums. Keep an open mind, a tolerance of opinions without hate, and a healthy dose of sarcasm in your belt. ;-)

You know? I never gave much thought to the 8th gen fenders in need of extensions. Looking closer at the front, at least, it does appear that Honda has made these fenders a tad shy of what is needed. I would think that the front tire would be throwing up all sorts of crap from the roads, especially if ridden in the rain, which mine used to be a lot, and still is compared to most I suspect. But do you think the rear is necessary or is that just something you wanted? Nothing wrong with that.

I hated the rear fender of the 6th gen aesthetically. I cut mine down (or up as the case may be). It was not long before I regretted cutting that as much as I did. I probably could have gotten away with eliminating some of it, but I think I just went too far. Riding in the rain as it is after the modifications, my back, or the back pack worn, gets filthy.

Picked up the bike from a dealership in vantoC Ohio, best deal I found within 500 miles. I've ordered scorpion stainless exhaust and rear oem hugger. Going to get some risers and front fender extender next. Plan on riding my work commute Saginaw to Lansing as much as possible.

Yes, some front end extenders don't look adequate, but the units from Pyramid Plastics in the UK do look to be a little longer and hopefully it will be effective.

I got my carbon fiber finish Scorpion for $450 including taxes and free shipping, so I was very happy with that price! I got my 8G from Miami, FL just before the end of the year 2018. I had to pay $800 for shipping from Miami to Michigan. All said, taxes, registration, shipping and everything cost me $8k, (I'm happy with that.) Prior to the purchase I've only seen an 8G in person once, but I'm a believer in the VFR. I'm coming from a 3rd Gen, can't wait to ride them back to back and really see what the differences are?
