I'm glad to say that both the VFR800 and VFR1200 are on Honda Australia's web site and in both F and X variants. Must admit I'm not keen on the "silver machine" look of the new 800.
I think the bike is pretty nice in black and red and "ooooh, ooh, oh, oh, oooooooooohhhhhhhh, now where are the tissues" gorgeous in the white but the white didn't make it here until after I bought my black one. The black pearl is still a nice looking bike, but not quite as lovely as the white pearl which is lucky as it would show the stains up really clearly. The silver just doesn't float my boat personally. It's a bit like beige but without the color and visual interest. I know plenty of people that like grey bikes and cars, my lovely wife is one of them, but I've never had one and probably never will.

Honda Australia's web site says there are updates, such as that the iconic X head lamps are now LED, well so were the ones on the 14 and the headlamps weren't really x shaped before that. Can a styling feature become iconic in one production model ? If they've actually done something to the throw pattern and cut off of the lights, that would be a worthwhile improvement, but that's not what they're saying. It does speak of a new fork and rear shock with stepless adjustment and increased travel but I honestly wouldn't know whether that is true or just more marketing speak inserted solely because they need more blurb in the brochure than "It's still the same really nice bike, but we painted it grey this year."

Same story on the European side of the pond where the 1200 and 800 VFR are now classed as sport touring models, and the new grey option joins the colours available previously. With dealers having to pay for stock after 6 months there are some very interesting deals appearing for pre-registered 2014 models. With the miles still climbing on my 6th Gen I am increasingly tempted to move on to the 800F with full luggage for the long haul trips.

It would be nice if they ever migrated to inverted forks to decrease the weight at the wheel.

This does not surprise me because they still had 6th Gen DownUnder as late as 2012.

After that DUI chic almost killed me I was waiting for a 2017/18 to come out but no luck. I'm digging the color so I might hold out.

It looks OK, but I would still prefer to get rid of all the black plastic crap around the engine. Instead they made the frame look like the plastic crap? Not a step forward for me.

I have a very nice well sorted VFR............ and I also have a very nice well sorted sport bike. 2 very different beasts.
How about the little piggy RC 51? Sport bike? Yeah it is but lil piggy can't hold a candle to modern day sport bikes. Mike (LDH on here) has one of the nicest RC 51's you will ever see. It is nice to run one of the better race shops in the country and get all but unattainable magic parts. His lil piggy is fun running around the track but nowhere near what the sport bikes of today do.
