IF they do a 2020 US vfr, when would it be announced?

Assuming that some of the reports are right, and assuming that Honda ever wakes up from its Rip Van Winkle act, some say a new V4 is really coming to the market. AND some say it will come to the USA. AND some say it will be great.

IF the next model year included this unicorn, I am standing in front of my home now with cash in hand.

So, when would we likely know that? Fall/Winter shows in Europe in the fall of 2019? Let me know so that I can set my alarm clock and stop worrying about.

PS- if it never comes, I will eventually buy a Ducati to go with my classic 2nd gen and mail a pic of the payment cash to Honda corporate!

Honda don't love us. We're the red headed step children that they tolerate.

In the US, the only real player in this segment is the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and Ducati SS. Even Ducati is struggling to sell their SS. Everyone is struggling to sell these bikes. It appears the only bikes that move off the showroom are ADV & Enduro bikes and to a smaller degree, the naked middle weight bikes. Everyone is naked-bike crazy.

I believe that even if Honda gave the US the VFR1000, there would be a flurry of sales floor activity, maybe even glowing reviews, a small sales surge in the first year, then....crickets. Just like the Ducati SS. The Ducati SS is the closest thing to the sporty VFR of the 1990's.

If Honda ever released such a bike, they’d price it at $20K and wonder why it doesn’t sell.

They would have showed at EICMA months ago. They aren't even doing concepts of one.

Speaking of naked or semi-naked bikes. I would be very okay if Honda made a roadster/standard of the VFR, like the Tuono. And if I could have my way add integrated luggage and a center stand, ala r1200r.

They do make a roadster. The CB1000R.

I’ve seen up close and personal. Really nice bike but I would like a V4.

Remember when the new CBR was going to be a V4?

Tuono 1100 V4 is the only game in town. Ducati too if you want to pay that much. Personally, I'd rather get the Kawasaki H2 supercharged bike at that price point.

With current sales numbers, we are lucky to even get a heavily updated CBR1000r.

It's 2019. People have been talking about Honda Unicorn V4 since....oh 2004? Maybe longer. I think Honda already answered this question!

No doubt, I’m not holding my breath. Just fun to speculate.

I'm not holding my breath either. I'm over it. I do like the CB1000R a lot. But I'm a bit old-school so I like Cafe Racers, especially modern iterations of them.

I will hold my breath for another year or two, then maybe buy a v4 from some other OEM. There are just enough patents and rumors coming out of Japan each year to keep me patient a bit longer.

Besides, I have other new/fast/contemporary bikes to ride while I am waiting.... for now

No more naked, semi naked, somewhat naked, partially faired, motos. We don't need every single new machine looking like a GD adventure bike or some retro throwback junk. Build a damn modern sportbike with a V4 stuffed in it. The End.

I think you have a far better chance of getting that sportbike if the motor would be used across platforms.

Hmm, Crossrunner, Interceptor, RVF, sounds like a plan...

There isn't going to be another VFR or V4 engined Honda motorcycle. Why should Honda spend the time and money on one, especially a V4? Both have insignificant demand in the scope of their business and they can make money doing other things. Key words: make money. Period. It's over. Honda isn't into losing money on a dead obsolete motorcycle. Use up your VFR then get something else. Change is a law of the universe.

Just recently, Porsche also made a V4, for their LeMans 919 LMP1 car, but so far that’s not gone into any wider production. (Sad!)

Yet it’s not dead as they are still selling new V4 bikes, just not everywhere. I get your point and while things change they are also cyclical. Putting that V4 into something like a BMW RnineT would be fascinating.

There is a reason cars don't have V4's.
