I've seen some references about which wheels to use on my '84 VF1000F.
I think I read where I'll need to get a pre '92 front wheel in order for it to work but what about the rear wheel?
And what is the differences with the front wheels?
    TIA.

16" radials are very hard to find. The CBR's are larger and have a much more plentiful supply of radials. The rear wheel is usually replaced to match the front and give you more traction out back.

    See www.daughertymotorsports.com for more info.

The F2 wheel is 17" x 3.5" but more importantly it has provision for a speedometr drive. F2 rear is 17" x 4.5" and will fit a 160 tire; f3 is 17" x 5" and fits a 170 if your swingarm will clear it.

Yep reason for the switch is to be able to get the latest in tire design, not much out there in 16". The trick for the VF is you'll also need the forks, brakes, fender for the front, last time i checked it's not a direct swap but does work if you get all the right parts.

Yeah, I've already picked up a set of F2 wheels. I was just wondering what the differences in the pre '92 wheels were.
I knew from the day I bought the bike that the 16" front needed to be swapped out.

I also have a set of 600F2 forks and triples. I have a bunch of projects before I can get to the VF but once I get started I'll have a better idea of what to expect.

Is there any chance that someone would know the dimensions of the steering stem?
    OD's, taper and length?

Thanks for any help or ideas.

With the exception of color, the 91-94 wheels are the same. I hope this helps!

you do not have to swap the forks for the F2 wheel conversion...take a look at the link posted earlier..he sells the parts for using the F2 wheels on the the VF as is..as well as the machining work needed to make the speedo drive and rear cush drive work on the bike.
