I have a new 8G Interceptor being delivered to my garage in seven days. I have half a winter to mod the shit out of it....

I've been researching exhaust and I've narrowed it down to two.

My first two choices are the SC project or the GPR?

Check out the beginning of this youtube video with the white GPR exhaust. I don't think I've heard a more crisp, beautiful sounding exhaust on the 8G? ( 0-1:14) Sounds awesome! IMHO ;) If I had a pearl white VFR, I'd have one of those white cans for sure. But since I have the two mph faster Red Interceptor, I will be opting for a black unit. ;)

I like the look of the SC project, but it doesn't sound as good as the GPR?

In my view, the other exhausts on the market like the Akrapovic, Scorpion or Two Brothers are just too big...IMHO ;)

Anyone have the GPR exhaust on their 8G?

They really should have made the latest VFR with a left exit exhaust. Just something about the latest iteration and the selection of exhausts that just look odd. I know it has a lot to do with hard case clearance. The latest trend in the geometric, or stubby oversized, cans....just looks like the stretched swingarm crowd to me. Hanging them off the footpeg doesn't leave too many option, if you were inclined to remove the peg hangers, but then again, that's just my opinion. Whaddya gonna do when the selection is pretty limited. Beauty is in the eye of the purchaser. Do they provide any dyno numbers, or is it just a slip on?

Just get a Delkevic. They're inexpensive, look good to me, and are louder. I could care less about sound (prefer none actually) but my Delk. DOES definitely improve very low end torque, does reduce weight significantly, and isn't hideous like stock mufflers. Paying 800 to a thousand for a silencer is.......you fill in the blank.

I have the GPR. I have both silencers in and I think it is pretty loud. I don't like it too loud.

Hi there, I have the SC conic on my new 8th gen' and can confirm it's a very well made and tidy unit. Much smaller than the OE can obviously and with the dB killer removed it sounds like an RC30 when on song.......but my car alarm definitley doesn't like it !

For $200 bucks. It is amazing to me and being a shorty it gives up more of the amazing rear wheel to be seen. I would not spend another $200 or $400 on something that did nothing but save 4lbs weight and sounded amazingly more than the Del. Unless it is a full system to increase HP. I have the DB killer still in it because I know that it sounds great with it in and I have not had an issue with the law in Utah. I did years ago with a cheap Racine exhaust that I got a ticket from and had to sell the bike because the stock was more than the bike was worth (1983 Gpz 550)

I got such a great deal on a new 8G, I have allocated a nice chunk of change for mods. In regards to the Del. exhaust, I just don't like the look, to me they made very little effort in paying attention to the aesthetics. I mean its just a short, round can? meh

I believe I will be getting the SC Project Conic, just not sure if I'm getting the all carbon fiber look? Or the titanium look with a carbon fiber tip? I doubt I will be taking out the baffle much, I just don't want it too loud.

I see on VFRD they have someone making a header for the 8G, I'm on that list if and when they show a solid working product.
Like I said, I have a long list of mods planned, likes suspension, scotts stabilizer, quick-shifter, lithium battery and other misc bits. When all said and done, this will be one badass 8G. That is my plan... ;)

Do you have any pics you could share of your exhaust? Thanks!

Hi, I don't have any pics of my red bike as yet. I've only had it since November and what with work and winter weather it seems like there hasn't been an opportunity when it's been in any clean state to photograph in decent light. I've attached a picture I found on the web of the Titanium SC conic on a red VFR that did it for me and a link to a video that's a good reproduction of how the bike sounds :

As far as my own bike goes, the only other cosmetic changes I've made are to remove the OE plastic number plate hanger and fabricate a mount direct onto the rear mud guard, this tidies up the tail a little, and to swap the screen out for the Powerbronze tinted/VFR screen for a little more wind protection.
I'm loving the bike though, just enough power for commuting and touring and so stable in the corners. Yes it's slower, heavier and not as flickable as my Sportbike but after much thought I think the 8th gen VFR800 is a special bike and a dying breed at the moment. The only couple of things I wish were on the bike were electronic cruise control for touring (but then you'd have to lose the delicious fuel response from the cable actuated throttle) and decent plating on all the bolts and brackets. Winter road salting is playing havoc with my OCD for corroded bolts etc, but my Honda Tec' has explained that manufacturers are not allowed to use the higher quality plating of the past due to recent enviro' legislation ! So....I'm slowly working my way around the bike with stainless or titanium replacement fixings. Hope to see some pics of your mods as they progress and I'll try to put my bike up when weather and time allow.
    Enjoy !

I went with the Arrow. Great sound, and not too loud with the DB killer in. With the DB killer out, it's even better. Maybe consider a PCV also. Cleans up the low speed fueling and improves the rideability.

Interesting that you mention a PCV because compared to the ride by wire throttle and fuelling on my other bike and many more I've tried, the stock fuelling on the VFR feels good out of the box to me at the moment.

If "not loud" is what your going for then get the Two Bros. Had it on my 14 and was NEVER happy with it

Hey Flya750 what dimensions do you need? The SC with baffle removed is I believe the perfect volume. Loud enough to be heard but not overly to be annoying. VFR 1yr.jpg

I think I'm okay with the dimensions? It obvious the SC Project Conic is one of the smallest with in reason. I'm probably going with the SC Conic and I will probably keep the baffle in. It sound good with the baffle too, right? ;)
