Hi. I recently returned to VFR ownership. Back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, I had an '84 500, but stopped riding, focusing on career, kids, etc. Now retired, I found a local ad for a 2003 vfr800a. For a 15-year-old bike, it was nice, with only 6k miles, and my motorcycling glands got inflamed, so I bought it. Still getting used to it, and getting used to having North Carolina state troopers follow me for a few miles at a time. They are attracted by the red color, I guess.

My past bikes are either museum pieces or in junkyards now: Some ancient 2-strokes, a Ducati Diana, a Bultaco Metralla, Honda CB350 and CB750, and, of course, the '84 Interceptor. Recently got another museum piece, a '72 Yamaha AT125 enduro, completely original right down to the tires, with 3k mi. Not sure what I'll do with it, but it gets a lot of smiles and thumbs-up per gallon, and smokes enough to kill mosquitoes.

Nice to be riding again. ATGATT, since I am beaten up enough.

Welcome here JN and stay awhile. I too had a '86 Interceptor 500 new and LOVED it. What a great machine. And where did the time go?
    Enjoy that sweet VFR!

Welcome - NC LEO is not friendly to motorcycles, especially along I-40 between Hickory and Asheville, and I-85 between King's Mountain and the SC line. LOL

Lived and rode there from 1999 to 2012. On another note, best roads in the US in my opinion, just a few of my favorites:

Hwy 181 between Morganton and Jonas Ridge (Used to be a LOT better before they took all the curves out)
Hwy 221 between Blowing Rock and Grand Father Mtn.
Hwy 80 from Marion to the Parkway (near Spruce Pines)
and of course, the one right next to where I used to live, Brushy Mtn. Road

Hello there JN'.. It's great to hear of people who are, for want of a better phrase, getting on a bit. I myself am 61, soon to be 62. I suppose there will come a point when riding becomes too difficult, but in the mean time let's get out there and enjoy the riding.
