I bought a gopro, used it twice, couldn't even bear watching my own bullshit . I have adopted a view that, putting up your own videos is like forcing someone to watch your vacation videos at a dinner party. I'm sure somebody will watch it, sorry.

    Pete, isn't that called a unicycle?:Pound:

I've sworn off used bikes right now. I just want to ride it for a while and not deal with any issues used bikes usually come with. I know I know, a few years old isn't a lot but often it is for some bikes. I've seen those used bikes with a "low miles" and "always garaged". It's rare that they're "like new". Most people just don't take care of their bikes. Often they dump these things right before the major service interval with worn out tires, chains that never got lubed nor cleaned, some road rash here and there, a little sun bleaching & faded plastic, etc. Been down that road a few times and don't care to walk that path any time soon.

That's all I buy is used. I would rather spend a few hundred to get everything up to snuff on a used bike than the outrageous new bike prices. Just buy carefully.

I buy used occasionally, but plan on completely rebuilding them when I do. I figure they will end up costing the same, if not more than new, when they are done. But they are much improved over the stock version. Even when new, I will strip them completely down and reassemble them myself. The things I have found would make somebody cringe.

I've done the buy used, strip down, rebuild thing too. A few times. Since I'm OCD, I notice a lot of things that do make me cringe, and/or clearly speak of the prior owner's neglect or indifference. I'm not in the mood for that at this time, but it doesn't mean I won't do it again.

I do agree new bikes depreciate FAST. Based on the market it's clear it's about $2k/year for used bikes.

Financially, it is VERY wise to buy used bikes. You still take a hit, just not as much. If you turn it around within 1-2 years though you may actually make some money. One can do this on the side and have a nice little income to supplement your main source of income. Buy, fix a little, re-sell after 6 months. If one has the patience for that.

Mike (LDH on here) bought a brand new ZX10 and completely stripped it down. Nice to run Kyle Racing.... a full top of the line Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, Arata full Ti exhaust and on and on. He even repainted the entire bike. It is a beast.

I have to agree that Honda seem to have lost the plot with their motorcycle range. That all started with the VFR1200 in 2010. The bike was great to ride, but the fuel range and luggage capacity was a joke. I live in Calgary Alberta and when riding two up with luggage, you were planning your route based on gas stations.
I have been looking for a while and found a 2007 VFR800 Anniversary with only 1900 miles on it in July 2018. It was immaculate, even had the original rubber fitted. I have had the new VFR800 and wasn't a fan of it. I have had the 1200X... it is like riding a tank. You go into a corner with Michelin Road 4 fitted and it just wants to go straight on in the corner. Just a scary bike to ride quick. The VFR1200F you could race into corners and it handled amazingly and then you run out of gas....:Brick:
Yes the 6th gen gets hot, but it is reliable compared to say Ducati's that love to go into limp mode or a Suzuki with the build quality of a Chinese kettle and then you have Kawasaki, like the one I had once that literally just fell apart around me all the time. Honda need to fix their shit and focus on what riders want.

Suzuki build quality has never been a problem. Their fit and finish may have been an issue before though. But I'm guessing they sell more bikes than Honda because they're not asking a premium. Honda's fit and finish is second to none I will admit that. My 2015 CBR600RR's quality is top notch. Nothing looks or feels cheap. Every part, including plastics, fit Yoga Pants tight. The paint quality is amazing. After staring and riding many bikes lately, Suzuki and Kawasaki have closed this gap. Not 100% but they're close and they don't ask an extra 10%-12% surcharge on MSRP like Honda does. Which is not bad considering Ducati asks a whole lot more for quality/fit/finish below that of Honda.

Ohlins + Brembo + Ti full exhaust + new paint, that's at least $5k in upgrades. A good used ZX10R that's not too old and isn't beat to death will be around $10k OTD. All in that's pretty close to an all new ZX10R or more if you get a new ZX10R at the end of the year.

Except their bolts are made from cheese and the paint is not as thick. You also see a lot of Suzuki's on their side in the ditch.

I currently own a 2017 Suzuki. I would say the finish/coating/quality of their bolts are not as good as Honda's. So you have a point. I have no idea how to gauge the thickness of paint. But as far as paint quality, I'd say Suzuki is hard to distinguish from Honda.

I've actually owned two Suzuki's in the past, a Hayabusa and a Bandit 1200S. They're quality was pretty damn good compared to my Honda VFR800's. And they were stone cold reliable, just like my Honda's. I've owned Kawi, Suzuki, & Honda, and none of them have ever let me down on reliability. Ever. Not once. And I rode them all a lot.

Probably more than that with all the other stuff. But he runs KYLE Racing and gets dealer cost or even free. And their shop is an amazing place. They service a lot of the race community.

Dan did the initial Ohlins shock setup for my HRCLS46 on the old 800. He installed Torrington thrust bearings for my shock spring and helped me get the initial sag setup perfectly. Sand City, CA. Got himself in a little hot water with the tax man a couple years ago, but that has to be over and done with by now. The man has mountains of experience and is very forthcoming with great information. Great guy to shoot the breeze with. I believe he also had a lot to do with the Rogue RC51 website, if I'm not mistaken....

Dan is still in the clink. Mike has been running it for him. Actually he was running the place before Dan went away. Mike is Rogue Racing. I still go to his old site once in a while for info. Did you go Kyle Racing or send him the parts. Mike probably did the work. He's a great guy too with ton of experience and very helpful. I have visited him at Dans place, hooked me up with some very nice bits.

Sorry to hear he is still a guest at Club Fed......

I took it to their shop in Sand City. Dan did the work himself. I brought most of my own tools and removed the shock at his shop. He was kind enough to help me out with tools I didn't have, and lent an extra set of hands. Only took about an hour to pull the shock and an hour to put it back in. Only took Dan about 20 mins to install the Torrington bearings and another 20 to get the sag right. That was 11 years ago however. Met Dan at his booth at WSBK at Laguna, many years before that.
