I know some VFR owners wouldn't be caught dead on a cruiser. As mentioned in another thread, I like all kind of motorcycles and others do as well seeing the virtues of each. I have a friend that owns both a Victory Vegas 8-ball and a VFR. He finds himself hopping on the 8 ball for short rides. He distills it down to the style factor but says it pretty well. Its easier to ride a slow motorycle fast then a fast motorycle slow. I believe he is right. Now a 8-ball will run a mid 12 second quarter so the bike isn't exactly slow but compared to a VFR I guess it is. So for those that own multiple bikes, which way do you lean? Do you find yourself jumping on your cruiser for most local riding or is it the other way around...you find yourself going for the VFR more often? No single motorcycle is all things. The VFR is reported to be closest to the all encompassing motorcycle then anything else so I thought this maybe a fair question since I am presently a cruiser owner who has never fully warmed up to owning a bike with forward controls as much as I like the cruiser style.
    Thanks for any thoughts,
    George

I owned a Valkyrie for 5 years (best cruiser out there imo), bought a 2k VFR last spring and sold the Valk this summer - that tell you anything?

I guess I lean the other way. I have a CBR1000RR in addition to the VFR. I ride the CBR when I need a dose of adrenalin. I can’t say I like one more than the other, but the VFR does a lot more things better. I also have a 1979 CBX 1000 just to remind me of how much technology had improved over the years. One comment I make is that the VFR has the best manners of any bike I ever had. It’s also the first I’ve had with saddlebags. Boy are they nice to have.

I usually only have one bike but occasionally two if I get the buy/sell order screwed up! However, I do have a friend who suffers with multiple bike syndrome (MBS) and has an st, crusier, dp, classic, and hooligan bike. He uses the cruiser as his main around town weapon.

I have had a go fast bike and a crusier bike at the same time for decades. I kinda do the riding that suits my mood. Like my tag line - one to go fast, one to go slow.

5yrs ago I bought a Valkyrie thinking it would be a great long distance tourer and also cruiser. I was thinking to use that instead of the viffer off and on. Funny how it just ends up being a short range cruise ride for me. I think its still the ultimate for that duty. If I want to go any distance the VFR is and has been automatic - its just built for it.
