    Hello everyone,

New member looking for a pointer in the right direction :) I'm giving my 800A a service, and in lubricating the throttle cables I've discovered the routing isn't correct (bike went back to the dealer for 3 months after I bought it two years ago, so *probably* something they did). In short, the outer of one of the cables is damaged where it's chafing on the underside of the ignition unit.

I have the Haynes workshop manual, and the original handbook, but neither detail cable routings (I don't know why Haynes don't do this). I'm assuming what I need will be in the OEM manual; not overly familiar with Honda processes as I was a Suzuki man for 14 years before buying my VFR :)

Can anyone point me towards a download for the original? I've no objection to buying an original paper copy new or second hand, but ideally need an answer today so I can ride to work tomorrow :D

    TIA :)

All sorted :D Was obvious what the problem was when I had a fiddle; The cable clearly wasn't running through a bracket that it should've been (not the first time I've found that out on this bike either annoyingly). Re-routed it and now it's fine! On with the rest of the service...

(still interested in a proper manual though!)

Thank you, I'll check that link out later; seems like VFRdiscussion is down at the moment? Hopefully it'll be back up soon.

It’s not actually down per se, it’s just certain folks having issues at the moment. There was a security certificate that was updated and now it seems several people are having trouble accessing the site. Although it is technically up, if you’re having access issues, then it’s a moot point as to the reason I guess. Hopefully it’ll get sorted out soon.

Looks like the issue with VFRD has been resolved. Give the link a try and let us know if you had any success.

I managed to access the link last week from my mobile's browser, and found what I needed, thank you :) I discovered that my interpretation of the cable routing was correct, but also that I'm missing a zip tie that's shown in the manual. That will stop the cable chafing once fitted.

I have also just managed to access the link just now with my browser, so looks like whatever the problem was is now fixed.

    Thank you :)

Well that's the interim service done (apart from putting the panels back on). Do you think the brake fluid change on my bike was due?! :D Probably never been done. I bought the bike July 2016 with 3k miles on it; didn't really get to use it until Summer 2017 and I've changed it as part of the 12k service. It's probably the fluid that was in the bike when it left the factory!
