Been riding since I was a kid. My last ride was a 04 Victory Kingpin which I bought new. My wife has an 86 VF500 which she bought new. It was put away for some time because she had ankle surgery. This year I decided I would get it going and ride it my self. Had to restore the pet cock. That is when I discovered this forum. After riding the 500 and reading on the forum I decided I needed to get one of my own. I decided on a gen 5 because of the cam driven valves. I found a 99 that is stock except for the seat ,risers and heated grips, with only 18xxx miles on it and in excellent condition. Now I have three motorcycles and don't plan on selling any of them. I really like the styling of the gen 5 and it is so much fun to ride. Thanks for all the info people have posted on this forum. It is priceless.
Welcome KarlR ! I have a '98, and share your attraction to the 5th gen. Count yourself blessed to have a wife who also rides. BTW she is welcome to join the forum as well. It just might help increase your amount of communication. By the way , so post up a photo or two when you get a chance.
I will post some picks soon. I was happy the wife didn’t fuss about getting another bike. Had to push a little to get her to ride again. I plan on checking the R/R and static connector soon. Not having any problems and I ran to keep it that way.
Great pic Karl. I also had that same '86 VF500 when it was new and LOVED IT. I hope you guys can get out on some rides. Enjoy that sweet 5th Gen.
