There is some adjustment, on the back of the headlight housing on each side there are adjusters. Right now I can't remember which one is up/down and which one is left/right. There might actually be different ones for each bulb. I tweaked the adjustment on mine a while back, youll have to test ride during the process. If you ride with a passenger that will make the headlight much higher.

Ok cool, I will see if I can find it. Its seems my lights are sort of aiming to the right a little. Is that operator error when installing them? Maybe I didnt seat then in properly?

Here's whats is odd.....On low beam, my lights are high and to the right. On high beam, they are perfectly centered but hit the ground about a hundred feet in front of me. Explain that to me LoL.

I'm not sure if this will be totally helpful, but here are a couple of pictures from the 1998-2001 5th generation service manual for headlight adjustment. At the very least it will show what each adjuster does and which way to turn the screws.

I need to adjust mine down a bit as well. Does anyone how I get to them without pulling my front fairing apart ? Is it a slotted screwdriver I need to adjust ? Any help would really be appreciated .

I think they are adjustable with the upper fairing in place but getting to the screws for the vertical adjustments (top left and right of the back of the headlights as shown in the pictures) can be a bit challenging. The other two adjuster screws you should be able to reach through the black plastic cover plate just under the headlight on the bottom of the front cowl. As I recall you just need to use a #2 Phillips screwdriver.

    2000 Headlight Adjuster Holes

If you take a look just under the gauges there is a hole in the black plastic cowl that surrounds the gauge cluster. If you insert a phillips screwdriver through the hole it gives you the ability to adjust the headlight aim up or down. In the picture on the left you should be able to just see the adjuster screw in behind the plastic. There should be one hole on each side. It may take a few tries to actually get the screwdriver on the head of the adjuster screw but if you shine a flashlight up from the bottom of the gauge cluster by the fork tubes you should be able to see the adjuster screw through the hole and that may help you line up the screwdriver a bit better. You need to turn the screw counter-clockwise to adjust the beam down and clockwise to go up.

Ok along these lines, is there a trick to removing the electrical connector on the bulbs? I am pulling like a SOB and they will not come loose. Is there a release on the connector, are they just that stuck? I can't get the dust cover off around the connector so I can't even see the spring that holds the bulbs in - if could get the bulb out I would think I'd have more room to remove the connector. Seemed like such a simple maintenance project before my mid morning saturday nap time. Any help?

PO never greased the connection. Wound up breaking a bulb INSIDE the housing and pulling the whole front cowl off...

Yes, there are clips on the sides of the connector that must be squeezed to release the connector.
