Hey guys! I got a quick question, I think and hope you can help me out. How hard is it to take off the heat-shields from the stock exhaust and put them on another stock exhaust? To make things short: I'd like to make the hole-saw & dremel-mod to my exhaust. However I'm not sure if the cops like this (here in Germany). So I'm getting a used VFR-exhaust to work on, and if I the men in blue don't like it, I can put the default exhaust back on. The problem is: The new exhaust has weird heatshields and I'd like to use my own. So the question I'm having is: How hard is it to take off the heatshields? I know there are two screws holding the side-heat-shields in rubbermounts and two allen keys are holding the end-cap-heat-shields. Is that really everything there is to the them, or are there any hidden shenanigans? Thanks in advance for your input, guys!
sorry cannot help you but how did you get on with your petrol tank paint??,cannot remember how it panned out
Oh yeah, the petrol tank paint-thingy It went pretty well. "okay-ish". Not great, but not very bad either. I pried away the paint, there were a few specks of rust underneath on the metal. I sanded the rust away and put some "Brunox" on the remaining metal and small spots of rust. This Brunox-stuff stops the rust from spreading and is supposed to contain it. Let it sit a few hours. Then I put some NH441-paint over the Brunox, the same paint like the VFR, ordered online. And then sprayed and put on some clear-coat which is supposed to be gas-resistant, according to the can. It's not that subtle, however it gets the job done and I stopped the bubbles from getting bigger (for now). I won't put too much work in, tho. It doesn't bother me much and if I ever decide to sell the VFR I might just look for a replacement-tank and that's it
