I changed lanes and an RV was crawing along on the 70mph freeway. As I had just passed a semi truck, I didn't have room to do anything but hit the binders, really fucking hard! I'm guessing I was still over 50mph with my rear wheel three feet in the air. Lost control, tumbled and slid. X-Ray's and CT scan said 6 fractured ribs and my left ring finger cracked too. They had to cut my wedding ring off because of the swelling.

But, you know what? Every time it hurts, every time I can't breathe in deep, etc, I am very very grateful. I'm alive. The sintered Galfer pads saved my life. I was close enough to the back of the RV to lick it. My bike saved my life. My LS2 helmet saved my life.

Second chance y'all. Believe me, I appreciate every second, every whince, every ache. It changed me in so many positive ways! My wife showed me something funny on her phone. It made me laugh, which hurt, which sent her into a giggle fit. Which sent me into one. Which made her's worse, which made me laugh harder which hurt even more. It hurt like hell and was funny as fuck!

Ride safe. Be grateful. Be childlike and find joy and curiosity in everything. Everything. When life sucks, remember, you've been through worse and here you are. Alive!

Now is the time to listen to the Doctors and please DON'T try to rush things.

Progress at the pace they advise and hopefully you will make a full recovery.

Sadly the adrenaline shock which your body received can mask issues which may only become apparent days later.

As always - and even in very hot weather - ATGATT is the right answer.

    Get well soon.

Glad you're still around Lint - wishing you a full and speedy recovery! And definitely agree with you on appreciating life/what you have. I'm pretty cynical/pessimistic (eh Randy? haha) and have to continually remind myself "half full" "half full" "half full"! :D

Well at least the bike just needs a lick of paint & some gaffer tape... its almost drivable..

At some point you my try & second guess yourself as to what you could have done different..
Don't waste your time on it, its happened, repair the bike, heal yourself, get back on.

Good luck in your recovery Lint

Any street crash is bad, freeway speed...

I'm glad to hear you are no worse that noted, and can post what happened!

I had a recent incident, but was soooo lucky not to hit the ground. It does happen so fast.

Here's to quick healing, low pain, decent insurance settlement, and good repairs or better replacement!

    Take care.

Wow Lint. Things could so easily been a lot worse. We could be reading of your demise and thankfully that is not the case. How did you manage to have the rear wheel leave the ground. Doesn't your bike have linked brakes?
Ribs. Six of them! I have dislocate one rib about 6 times now and even a dislocation seems to take forever to heal. All you can do is wait for those pups to heal.

    Heal up fast my friend.

Holy Sheep Skin Lint! like all I'm glad you are around and will heal! Time to buy that customized 2014 2 stroke I offered!;-) I'm a little sick in the head saying this, but it would of been cool to see a video of it knowing that you are ok!;-) I wish I had one of the time I rolled my car in the 80's!;-) I was young and dumb! But, skill had nothing to do with me being ok afterwards. I think your accident did! The goal that is most desired is "living" and not to badly broken in that situation and you achieved it. Take Care!

Again glad you are going to be OK, but..,

Look at that full coverage helmet - It did it's job!

Every time I see riders with "Tea Cups" on their heads I think of scenarios such as Lint's. Same with riders in shorts, t-shirts, sandals and running shoes. They have no idea what happens when skin hits pavement at speed!

    Take care.
