I purchased a 2003 VFR with only 10k back in September I'm now getting a chance to ride it and when I start it up there is a trace of Blue Smoke then when I rev it up the smoke gets worse. I bought the bike due to low mileage and its in Like New Condition.

All the fluids and oil look good. The coolant is nice and clean, oil was just changed last year in 2017. It seems to be a MYSTERY especially with such LOW MILEAGE 10, 218 only.

Any HELP would be nice before I take it to a dealer and get into trouble with huge expenses.

might be time for a compression test. you're sure the oil isn't over-filled ? no FI codes ?

The oil in the sight glass is in the middle so I don't think there is to much oil. No FI Codes. I wouldn't think I would need a compression test on a Honda engine with only 10k on it. Who knows its a freaking MYSTERY.

Overfilled oil would be my guess too, blowing mist into the airbox and down through the combustion chambers chambers. I'd pull the air filter out for a look and see if it is excessively messy/oily in there. A trace of oil is normal, lots slopping around isn't.

I will look at the air box, great Ideas please keep them coming. The buyer who looked at it today was concerned and thought it maybe a Valve Seal or a Piston Ring. I don't think so, its a Honda with again only 10k miles.

If it has been sitting for months, maybe you just have a heap of condensation. I'd give it a good flogging for 50km and take another look at it.

I'm still concerned about the smoke being BLUE and not WHITE.

    Thanks Terry

Blue usually means oil burning, and you should notice the oil burn smell too.
If not oil mess in the air box or one of the easy fixes above, compression check.
Check easy thing first. Oil on your exhaust pipes?

No oil on the Exhaust Pipes, its so clean you can eat of the underneath of the bike. No Leaks either. I will check the Air Box environment. Also the Oil Level is right in the Middle Of the Sight Glass.

I should of had a mechanic check the bike out before i bought. I figured with only 10k and looks like new what the hek could be wrong. Boy I'm STUPID.
Hopefully I didnt get bite. I cannot image a Ring issue or Valve issue and what the repair costs would be.

    Unlikely, but not impossible.
Good luck, hope it's an easy fix.

surely you don't need a mechanic to spot blue smoke !

try what Terry said, ride it hard for a few miles.

does the smoke have an overly rich fuel smell to it. Could be fuel pressure regulator
