Hello All - south London based VFR owner, this being my second, previous ride was a battered 750, held together by masking tape and zip ties! Current ride is a 10 plate with 8k on the clock and im loving it!

Whats esle, Forest fan though dont see as many games a Id like. Like to get out as much as poss - into kent and the south coast.

Planning a two week break/ride to Slovenia later in the year.

    Welcome to the Madhouse

Nice to see another Candy Red in such excellent condition. Sadly any bike looking that good will get noticed and deserves some serious security - especially if routinely parked in the same area on the road anywhere near London. There are too many organised gangs who will have that bike lifted into a van and gone in 60 seconds - so I would talk to neighbours to try and find a lock-up garage to store it in. Otherwise keep it covered over when not in use ,and always anchor it to something solid (perhaps that lamp-post) with a quality Almax chain and lock overnight.

It looks like your bike has carriers fitted for full OEM luggage which will make packing a lot easier for the long haul to Slovenia.

Good luck and post up photos.

Yeah, mine get waxed and or polished every week and gets noticed whenever I bring her out. I keep her covered when I'm home and out but mostly to protect her from those damn UV rays. [IMG][IMG]

I really like the silver rims rather than the gold. Great looking bike!

Morning Gents, many thanks for the very warm welcome and nice comments re the bike, she really is a beauty - one or two little chips, but other than that, shes immaculate.

It does have the full luggage which will deffo come in handy for the longer trip - me and the missus did a quick trip to Paris recently, we only had 36 hours buthad a lovely time, now itching for something longer. Re luggage, ive also been looking at the 40L Oxford magnetic bag - not ised these before - are they any good, do they scratch?

Seen some lovely bikes on this site and on this thread, VFRs are a thing of beauty gold rims are deffo the way ahead!

At the moment the bike has a decent alarm and three locks, all gold standard/sold secure. I am looking for a gagrage locally, hopefully one will turn up soon. Also goi g to speak with neighbour re their lampppst and swapping parking spots. Bike is covered - and I move real quick if I need to!

Thanks again guys, im gunna like it here :)

Nice bike mate. I visited Slovenia in 2004 for work, absolutely beautiful place, lovely people, cheap beer. What more do you want? Hope its a great trip.

Welcome. Don't worry about the babe being out in the rain. The bike is fine. It is the riders who have issue with rain.

If you are planning on doing a lot of touring, spending money to get a custom fitted seat is well worth the money. I wished I had done that from the get go but never got mine done until I had over 200K on it. It makes a huge difference in comfort.

I had mine done at Rich's Custom Upholstery outside Seattle. I am sure there are similar shops everywhere. If I ever get a new bike, guaranteed now, I will get the seat rebuilt soon as I get it.

Thanks Randy, useful tip re the seat - im sure the missus will be keen for that upgrade :)

Im starting to think about change the screen to a double bubble or one of the Puig touring ones - does anyone have any good recs?

Im probably going to get some risers put on, after an hour on the bike I get an ache in my middle left back which is annoying..

While im at, im also thinking of upgrading my exhaust as well...

Ha, new bikes and new sparkly bits

There are two Double Bubble wind screens that are popular here. Puig and Zero Gravity. I have had both. There is a difference between the two in that the Puig has higher points at the top left and top right. Ears if you will. The Zero Gravity does not and the edges of that screen comes down to meet the cowl. I prefer the Zero Gravity for exactly that reason. Right now I am sporting the Puig, but if the need arises to change, it will be back to the Zero Gravity.

Understand though, the after market windscreens, at least those I mentioned, are considerably thinner than the OEM. But they do work fine. The fit on both are quite tight though.

image.jpeg I've got Puig double bubble on my VFR, my personal preference over the OEM screen

It moves the airflow up, it hits my chest at shoulder height, no problem for me as I lean on the breeze

Pyramid plastics were going to start doing triple bubble screens a year ago, check what they have to offer

    Cheers Thumbs, nice looking ride

Thanks for the heads up, im going to do a bit more research as wanting one that will take the wind as much over my head as possible!

Ive seen Puig do one with an attachment onto the screen, do these work or is it a gimmick?

There is one out there that the upper edge of the shield curves upward. A friend of mine had one on his 6th gen VFR. He compared that with my shield, either Puig or Zero gravity, don't remember which it was a that time. His shield created considerable more turbulence behind the screen than mine.

Now. There is one shield out there that has a deflector to the top that is adjustable to some extent. I can't speak personally but I have heard some say they like it. Then again, a lot of people who buy things will swear by them rather than at them. Few will admit they made a purchasing mistake.

When I sold tools, I used to recommend people who were trying to decide between two or more tools, to search them on Amazon and read the customer reviews there. Disregard the best review. Probably a friend of someone at Amazon. The disregard the worst. That guy hates his reflection in the mirror. They read the rest. You get a pretty good idea of what people think of the item. Unfortunately, I don't think Amazon sells motorcycle parts. But you can check. They do sell bike suits, just not the one I wanted.

From an ex-Londoner, welcome to the forum. Looks like you've scored a nice bike, and you'll get it sorted to your liking in no time.
