    Hey all,

I bought a 1988/89 VFR750F rear wheel, but it was assembled after getting painted at some point in it's life missing the inner rear wheel bearing spacer, the one that is inside the wheel.

    1986 or 1987 VFR700/750 or 1984 VF1000F.

Anybody got a junk wheel to source the spacer?

I might have a spare, still cleaning up some basket cases.
Failing that, I could give you the dimensions and you could Lathe one out.
Failing that, I could Lathe one out (but could take a while), need to find a appropriate Blank.

very helpful but finding a used one would be alot quicker and cheaper in time. maybe it's specially hardened, and ye can do that ??

There's enough of these bikes out there and enough people that have done wheel swaps, I'm sure one will pop up, especially out of a bent or damaged rim.

VF750F is about 3 or 4 mm short.

I grew up with a Lathe in the basement, and a SpotWelder, and Telescope Mirror Grinding machinery,,.. Yes I can do that.
That dumb'ol'spacer would be the simplest thing I've ever machined.

I'm guessing you're talking about the Sprocket Hub Spacer (left)?

    Cleaned up with Sand Blasting.

    The Large OD length is the Critical Dimension;

It spaces the Cush Drive chamber.

The ID is just the Axel and the narrow length slips into a Bearing.
    Doesn't have to be hardened.
Hardest part is finding a Blank with the right ID.

I had a similar issue with a missing spacer on one bike, just went to a local Wrecker and got one.
    No Wreckers here anymore.

Be sure to wipe the parts with MolyKote before assembly (not grease) and it'll never rust again.

I'll be in the Oregon/Washington area for a Ride in early July.

Nope! As stated in the original post, it's the spacer INSIDE THE WHEEL between the bearings. I would guess when the wheel was sandblasted (there was sand media inside the wheel) and they installed bearings they forgot the spacer. I don't know how they rode it, they had to have kept the rear axle just loose enough to not bind it. I read stories about this all the time. "I just did my bearings and now my wheel wont spin when I tighten the axle."

    Ah,,.. Between the Wheel Bearings.
Not between the Wheel Bearing and Sprocket Hub Bearing (still knda inside the wheel).
A Parts Diagram Picture woulda help'd.

    No Wreckers in the area?

Someone didn't check for parts left over.

I have a spare set of wheels, but reluctant to cripple the rear wheel with missing part.
I could pound out a bearing and measure the spacer,,.. is it the same as the VF1000F?

Yeah I thought it was clear, but after thinking about it, that's when I added some diagrams. The VF1000F shares the same part number. Those are the only 2 bikes that do. I have a VF1000F wheel (ironically mounted on a 86 VFR right now) that will be coming off soon that I will probably steal. But I too don't want to cripple this wheel either. But I think I'll find one eventually. I was really hoping the VF750F would be just a tad longer. I actually thought it would be the same but just had a different part number because it has the locating rings that help keep it upright when driving bearings. It's about 3-4mm short.

Oh, and no, for some reason the Seattle area doesn't have wreckers anymore.
