This is an Eclipse Tank bag. Back in 1984 it was my college graduation gift from all the guys in the BMW shop where I worked at the time. It has served me well. It was my pillow on many a trip. It held my stuff when I rode my R90. It waited in the closet between bikes and while the kids grew up. It rode with me on my Norton but now it is at the end of its service life. The clear plastic pocket on top is brittle and torn. My magnetic tank bag is more convenient but what to do? It kind of feels like an old friend. I hate to send it to the landfill to be buried with diapers and banana peals.

Give it a Viking send off - cremate it.

Sometimes you just have to let the old die ... lol

Gonna use it again? Give it away to someone else? Just get rid of it man.

You can burn it, bury it, or dump it.

Take it to a boat upholstery shop and get the plastic replaced. They call it isenglass. Good as new. Have them sew in magnets.

Aside from the plastic and faded appearance, I'd say it looks to be in damn fine shape! That must be some quality workmanship and you don't necessarily want to toss that. Lint's idea of adding magnets is a great idea too!

Absolutely top notch workmanship. I've had a couple of Eclipse bags and they are an excellent
bag. I only got rid of mine when I went with a magnetic bag. I also had a set of Eclipse soft-ish
    saddlebags.

Well, I am really glad i didn't toss the old "strap-on" tank bag. I am going to need it. I did what was suggested and I took it to a boat upholstery shop. The guy looked at the stitching and said that a shoe repair place would be the place to take it. I took it there and they said they could fix it but I needed to get them the clear plastic. I got 18" x 52" of heavy clear plastic at JoAnn's for $4.50.

I am going to need this tank bag because my new bike (new to me) has a non-magnetic plastic tank.

I have had 2 of the MotoPak tank bags. Top notch quality products.

I currently have the GT-Mini model which is very spacious but compact enough that it's not offensive.

I rode it to work today. It's brutal shakes and is very fun. A sport bike it ain't but it's more like my old Norton. I am going to need that tank bag. I have been using my Aerostich courier bag. These are fantastic by the way and they beat using a back pack (They are not a purse!) Mine is like exactly like the gray one in the photo below.

I took the old tank bag to a shoe repair shop. I picked up the plastic at JoAnn's and the repair was $37. It's not perfect but what is?
