Hi, I rode my bike (VFR 2002) last week with my gilfriend and my brother who has a Ninja 636. We were riding at about 90-100 mph and when I would downshift to the 4th gear to pass cars, the rev would go up at 11rpm before going back down to 8-9Rpm. It looked like the clutch was slipping. It never did this to me when I was alone. Anybody here has experienced this before?? Just bought the bike and it's now at about 10K so I don't feel for replacing the clutch. Thanks Jack
That sounds about right. Mine did the same thing before I installed new clutch plates. I would only notice it with someone on the back.
I had to replace my clutch on the 97 and it only had 10k on it when I picked it up. I assume you are not the first owner of the bike. The previous owner was a little "hard" on the VFR I picked up. So it really is not unreasonable that the clutch plates could be on there way out in the VFR you have. Does it do this at any other rpm? Only when you wack on the throttle? Also, I don't know you or the roads you ride or the situation you described above, but you need to slow down on public roads my man. I am not trying to be your Mom, but when I read "90-100 mph and passing cars" in the same sentence...the squid flying through and between cars image come to mind real quick. If that was not the case then cool, I know we all open it up a little from time to time, but if that is the case. Your brother and you should seriously look at doing track days together. BZ
