I just bought a 94 VFR and virtually every piece of plastic is busted and taped/zip tied together. It really did not bother me at first, since I got it cheap with a V&H, bags and only 8K miles. Yesterday I got off and noticed my tail light was about to fall off  The rear plastic is pretty much a big chunk of red duck tape holding it all together and it just looks sad. Pics don't do it justice. The right side is all busted up, fairing as well.

I know I saw it on here someplace where someone was putting CBR plastics on his and the front looked real nice. I did not go into it far enough to see how the rear went. Just figure if I am going to spend a grand on plastic and it be the same as every other VFR, why not put in some work and go custom. I have the tools and can weld...any places to start looking?

Brother I feel your pain, mine looks worse than yours! Go check out vfrdiscussion.com, there are a few custom plastic projects pinned in the 4th gen section. I've been considering doing one of them, or I might just go for some Airtech race plastic. Can't decide, but I know I'm not forking out $$ for the factory stuff.
I really like the one with the 600rr front and the VTEC tail, but it looks like a lot of work. Plus I have looked for a straight VTEC tail, I think it was a 6th gen, and it's hard to find one with a straight subframe and all the parts.

Maybe it is my RCBVFR custom you saw? 1996 VFR750F with CBR600RR front end and 2002 VTEC rear plus a lot more mods than that (well the tank is still original :eyebrows: )

It's still a work in progress but all the major stuff is done.

Hey foto, what's up? Yeah, I'm a regular on VFRD and I watched your project closely. Can't decide if I have the skills to tackle it or not, plus I just dropped $1K on my race bike so... gotta' lay low for awhile, but may start collecting parts on the down low. Finding a complete, straight vtec tail will be hard.
Didn't you have a problem w/ converting the h4 wiring to h7s(?) or was that someone else?

    Thanks tailgunn!

As a matter of fact, I was just working on the lights last night. I was running modified h4's in the cbr housing and although I did love having both lights for hi/lo beam, the light pattern was way funky .

I got a cbr headlight harness and bought a couple of new silverstar h7's. Guess what? The connector doesn't fit the bulbs. WTH? Do they have some special proprietary bulb like the 4gen has? Their connector is the same size/width as an H4 but with only the two wires connected. grrrr. Well I did need the harness for something else I'm working on and I got 'em working anyway.

I traced the appropriate wires from the vfr harness, cut and put regular female connectors on them which slipped right on the H7's male spades. I will have the stock cbr winky headlight look tho'. bastige..... Upside: the silverstars look MUCH better than the yeller 4gen bulbs.

Does that fairing offer any protection at all?
