Well I have not heard or seen one All Balls Bearing kit fail yet. If you have any proof please post up. If you think you have a better and cheaper solution then please post relevant part numbers so all can share. Otherwise I would not hesitate to recommend the kit to anybody. The grease you use is far more important in a bearing then the actual bearing in most cases and Im sure Alls Balls is not going to risk their company by selling second rate bearings.

I haven't checked the service manual yet; does it explain the entire process (head bearing removal/assembly) in detail? I'm not as mechanically experienced as others and was wondering if it has more in-depth instructions, not that SLOVFR's aren't great. My bike has 38k miles and I'm doing all the maintenance (e.g., valve check, spark plug inspection, head bearing replacement, and probably coolant flush and brake fluid replacement) this month.

At 38k you're probably due for bearing replacement, both headset bearings AND wheel bearings.

don't cheap out with chinese junk like Allballs; QUALITY bearings come from USA, Japan, or Germany ONLY.

Do you have any suggestions or links? A lot of people use All Balls and like them. Have you heard anything bad about them, or do you simply not trust Chinese quality?

Chinese haven't yet figured out quality control; just look carefully at any Chinese-made scooter.

They only make things aimed at the lowest price possible, and you get what you pay for.

    G'day guys
Did anybody happen to get the numbers off the tapered races (inner and outer, top and bottom) before installing them?... that way I can order NSK or Timkens from my local bearing supplier 'at the right price'
and.. are the new seals in the kit the same as the OEM seals?
I have a '95 Gen 4 with 76k Kilometers on the clock... and sometimes when stopping firmly, or with pillion, I get a click click from the steering head as I pull up and the weight comes off
    Cheers
