Can anyone tell me what the previous owner may have been trying to accomplish with this mess of wires under the seat? I am assuming it must be some kind of mod for maybe running lights or something, but I don't know how it was before.

Please look at the picture below and let me know your thoughts on how that should be (stock or cleanup the mod) and what I should do to repair it.

Thanks, this group has been invaluable so far. Not the least of which was helping me decide on the VFR instead of a GSX-R.

I initially thought that, but I can't take the rear plastic off because one of the connectors has been bypassed. I guess I will just replace with bullets.

I saw that and stuffed rags around it for the ride home (200mi) just in case.

    Thanks.

looks like if the wires got exposed, you'd have a seat heater... well at least until the fire started going really good, then you'd have the smoke screen option, and then a kustom charcoal finish.

The wire nuts are fine, as long as you do a superior tape job on top of them, like they have.:tsk:

Ha ha, seat heater! Now why didn't I think of that? I just need to figure out where to wire in the rheostat!

    Thanks all!
