I'll take a walk about with you OZ! Nothing better than a walk in the wild.

The "ramp" going up Wolf's Head. Its not hard but it is rather airy on both sides.

    Some great shots there Gator.
I get the same out of hiking, as I do riding.
It's like a reboot, I empty my mind of every day life and only focus on the task at hand.
Take in everything I see and become one with the place or machine.
Some of my walks involve carrying 25kg on my back, and the longest I've been bush is six days.
Doesn't seem that long, but carrying enough gear and food for any eventuality when you can be two days hard walk from the nearest road limits your range.

It does wonders for me too. When I was younger I would carry insane loads way back into the wilderness. Well over 100 lbs was normal for a typical 2 week expedition. Add up all the food, climbing gear and photo gear and it adds up quickly. I stayed back in Titcom basin in the Wind Rivers Wyoming for 17 days one time. We climbed every day except 2. I was 28 then. Before digital I would often carry a full 35 mm Nikon system with 3 lenses and a bunch of Kodachrome and a 2 1/4 medium format Mamiya with negative print film. Now I'm looking at the Sony RX V mirrorless camera for trips. I carry the Canon 5D and a 28-70mm 2.8 now but this little Sony is very interesting. Near $1000.00 though!

One of my favorite sayings is "There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing:. I took this photo of my kids in Alaska, it rained all day but we still had a blast. Was raining when I took the shot.

Mamiya gear? You were a masochist.

I had Minolta 35mm gear with many lenses, when they finaly brought out the 7D (Sony) I jumped on it.
With all the Carl Zeiss lenses I had a really good kit, but then I got sick of waiting for them to update so swapped over to Fuji X-T1 with all their fantastic fast lenses.
Haven't looked back, I can carry the body and limit myself to 3 lenses, usually a 35mm equivalent 21mm f2.8, a 35mm f1.4 (my favourite) and my weatherproof 24-200 zoom, or 28-80 f2.8-4 if I want to keep it light and know it's going to be dry.
It all fits in a very small bag and is a very tuff bit of kit (a bit heavy as there is no plastic).
My bigest problem now is finding time.

Indian Peaks Wilderness is a spectacular place to hike in Colorado. It is right next to Rocky Mountain National Park. High alpine lakes, lots of flowers and jagged peaks.

Humming birds are cool. I stayed at a cabin rental place somewhere in the Sawtooth range in Idaho and they had hummingbird feeders right next to the windows of the main cabin. You could watch them up close in action. They have a definite pecking order, the big one just muscled the others out of the way until he had is fill.

That was the first time I had ever seen a hummingbird nest. Pretty interesting construction technique. Looks like a lot of work. It also had a few little eggs in it...

Have you seen that video of the hummingbird that was caught on a web cam? The frame rate was such that it looked like the bird wasn't even flapping its wings and it was hovering. It was on Facebook but I cannot find it now.

Probably around 6 1/2 feet. It was in the mountains, at a primitive camp spot near Hot Sulfur Springs, CO.
