    Hi all,

I realized that on load @ higher speeds (130-170 km/h) the vibrations are quite intense. I wanna buy a steering damper, but the problem is I'm not able to find anything for this model. Any other Clue? Can I adapt one for a different model?

    Thx

My first thought (based on info provided) would be the issue is something other than what a steering damper would cure. Are you sure you have a good balance on the tires, as well as no cupping or deformations which could attribute to this vibration? Proper tire balance, good tires (not out of round or deformed) would be the first places I would check, along with making sure everything is tightened up as it should be. Less likely may be a bent rim or bent rotors.

Was thinking the same as above. Do you have the OE barends fitted? If not try adding some more weight.

I only have 8k km completed, as for the tires I have the original pair.

Are you talking about the bars shaking, as in from side to side or vibrating?

If you are shaking then I would be checking the suspension settings. Is the bike set up for you?

I am wondering if there is confusion between a steering damper ( for wobbles/oscillations in the steering) and a bar-end inserts (like a tuned-mass damper) to quell vibrations in the handlebars? I am assuming that he is talking about vibrations (buzzing) in the bars.

I refer to what fink said. If I let my hand of the bars the steering shakes like hell.

You have another issues then. Unbalanced wheel, bad tire, or bent rim I would guess.....

Has this been an issue recently? Or an issue the entire 8,000 km?

Felt like I was riding a jackhammer recently...as soon as I hit 133 km/h I thought moto was going to vibrate to pieces.
I was too afraid to take both hands off moto.

I pulled over and hecked for tire damage/pressure issues and they were OK.
So thoughts immediately went to tires unbalanced.
Yep, when checked both tires were way off balance.

I can't answer your last question. Sorries. Maybe someone else can.
Just wanted to add about my recent experience, may be worth a check for you.

I only noticed this behavior lately on my longest trip ( ~3000 km) on which I was driving faster than usual.

Hmmm, I didn't realize my tires were unbalanced until I went that fast too. Then it was terrible.

Whatever it is, I hope you find out soon!

Can't have you or your moto vibrating to pieces!

I agree with posters above, a steering damper won't fix the problem as you describe it.

Not sure if there are any offered though. Not a common bike, or a common bike to add it to.

In the mid 70s we visited Romania a lot on holidays as my parents made friends with two couples from Cluj who we met in Mammia. On a trip to Bucharest one holiday my father got an assault rifle in his back for trying to walk past the presidential palace.
We also stayed in Cluj for a week one holiday, visited Vlad the impaler's (inspiration for Dracula) castle.

In the mid 70s I was not even born :) Mamaia is one of the nicest places in Europe if your look for night life & drinks (which I'm not). A lot changed in ~50 years. You guys let me know if you decide to visit Romania again.
