Hi all, just back from a ride and noticed quite a bit of oil on the rear of the engine next to the VIN numbers. Bike has only 17000 miles on her new oil plugs and filters,no leaks from head gasket or plugs or bottom of engine, lifted the tank to see if any obvious leaks but couldnt see where its coming from:Cry:.Off to work the wkend night shift now so no time to post photos now:(.Its not dripping but its coming from somewhere maybe beyond my ability to source the problem need to get it sorted as a trip is fast approaching:mad: please be gentle with my lack of knowledge. Its defo not chain lube, havent checked the breather pipe or airbox yet any thoughts most welcome.

Take off your fairings and have a look. Other than shoddy K&N oil filters, loose oil filter, or loose drain plug, there isn't exactly a common leak location we can point you to.

No KanN filter got the fairings off cant see any obvious points of leak maybe youll b able to see with these photos. Cleaned up the area of leak then a quick blast after a just a couple of miles there is oil starting to accumilate.

Are you sure it's engine oil and not brake/clutch fluid or chain lube?

Is the oil level going down in the oil pan?

Hi yep oil level goes down ever so lightly, its oil defo not chain lube as its coming from opp side of engine to the front sprocket if that makes sense.

What does the inside of your air box look like? Is there any oil in there?

Possibly ... if you can't visually see where the oil is coming from at this point, we have to start looking in different places.
