Oh well must just be me but I think that's the worst colour scheme I could come up with ...the forks remind me too much of my old CBR600, painted silver with rust spots like acne

Agreed about the red ...only Ducati can still pull that off

I'll concede that it's an unusual scheme. And that maybe I like it because the color options in the States have always been somewhat lacking in variety. I just wish they'd bring back the asphalt black!

I just bought a 2014 VFR in Pearl White. And my god it is the best bike I've ever owned. And I've only been able to put on 200km. Now I'm gone for work for 2 weeks. But anyways I'm quite sad they don't have the 2017 in Canada. However I'm in love with the 2014

Thumbs, where have you been the last 8 months? :D

I'm not a fan of the black frame on the '17 VFR either - to me it looks like a cost cutting move. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but Honda typically reserves the silver (brushed aluminum?) frame for its special models. For example, in the CBR1000RR family the base models usually have black frames while the REPSOL and SP models get the silver frame. The $184,000 RC213V-S also gets a silver frame. Does anyone know if the finish of the silver frame on the VFR is more expensive to produce than the black frame? Is it painted silver or is it just brushed aluminum with maybe a clearcoat?

Agreed, but it's interesting that Honda categorizes the VFR800 on its USA website as a "sportbike" where they invite you to "select a model below to find the right sportbike for you". But then again, that's also where they put the Grom :D
    http://powersports.honda.com/street/sport.aspx
Is the VFR800 in the same sportbike category on the Canadian site? Also, it's gone now but can anyone remember where the VFR 1200 was categorized? I'm not sure but I think they had it lumped into the Touring category instead of the sportbike category on the USA website.

Agreed, I stopped by a local dealer a few days ago and they had a white 6th gen that had just been traded in and it definitely looked beefy (especially with the factory side cases) but it actually seemed rather trim compared to the new Valkyrie it was parked next to - those things are really beefy! But yeah compared to the new for '17 CBR1000RR for example the VFR800 seems beefy. When I sat on the '17 CBR it almost felt like my old Ninja 300 it was so light! They also had a new leftover red 8th gen model and l sat on it right after the 6th gen and the 8th gen definitely looked and felt a little slimmer than the 6th gen, but still "beefier" than the '17 CBR.

I'm not surprised she hasn't seen one in person because with the exception of seeing Dave and Morris' 8th gens at an organized meet (pic below), I've only seen 1 other 8th gen in the wild - and it was probably Dave's :D Part of me is happy that Honda has stopped importing 8th gens into the USA as it means the 8th gen will remain an extremely rare sight on the road - nobody who approaches me to talk about my bike has a clue what it is despite the badges on the tank and fairing - LOL. I hereby put out a challenge to find another pic of 3 or more 8th gens together in the wild :D

Sadly - it's no longer shown on the Canadian site. It worries me about the future of this iconic model.

That's not the real VFR1200 though ... that's the VFR1200X ... and yes, they did release the VFR800 Crosstour as well. :D

There's a part of the forum here dedicated to the Crosstour and Crossrunner.

Lots of hair splitting going on here but it is a VFR forum. Really, I like my 8th gen. but if someone stole it, I'd probably replace it with a BMW of some model. I've had two of them with zero problems after running the shit out of both of them for a long time and they both were ultra-fun bikes just as the VFR is. They make great sport bikes, great sport/touring bikes, and great touring bikes. Obsessing over any model or brand of motorcycle doesn't make sense to me given the great choices out there. Just saying'.......

My Chime in on all of this is that I found everyone that I know calls the VFR a sport bike/crouch rocket. I think the perception that any bike similar in appearance with a full body kit is a "Sport Bike/Crouch Rocket" that is because they do not ride. I tried to explain the difference of a sport tourer vs. the other is (gearing, top end, riding stance, low end, mid range torque etc.) but, they still just see the body kit and if they know that it can do 0-60 under 4 sec. it a sport bike or crouch rocket to them. Oh well, I just call it Jeni!;-) Most are looking at me as having a mid life crisis owning this bike. I personally like the look of the aluminum frame unpainted. It adds another color contrast besides the body and the black accents. I still have not figured out the bronze cases and wheels though with the red. That in my mind should have been done differently. I like it on the White bikes.
