....But it's not VFR. My fling with my 5th gen was short but memorable. I'll always have a special place for VFR's (my first bike was a 6th gen) and I'm sure I'll own another viffer one day but I only have room for one bike. I got a pretty good deal on a 2014 V-Strom 1000! ABS, traction control, heated grips, skid plate, engine bars, hard cases, throttle lock, aftermarket seat, and windscreen with 12k miles on the clock.

The VFR always inspired me to go for a ride but this bike makes me want to hit the road for a month. I know there's a lot of people that rack some serious miles on the VFR but it just doesn't work for me (even with bar risers and lowered pegs). I've put 300 mile on the V-Strom in the past 24 hours and feel like I've been sitting on my couch all day. The only downside is the Suzuki sounds like a tractor mixed with a lawnmower but I can live with it.

Anyway this isn't goodbye. I'll lurking in the background like that creepy uncle a kids birthday party.

Ha! I wouldn't quite consider it a grandpa bike yet but I'm definitely trending that way. I may not chime in that often but VFRworld is probably the best forum I've been apart of.

My first adventure was the 150 mile ride home from the dealership. Cruising down the slab the bike suddenly and abruptly starts losing power. I was able to limp into a gas station and did a quick search of the stromtroopers forum. That lead me to check the grounds but I didn't have to look far. The bolt that holds the lead on the negative battery terminal was missing. So much for the dealerships 31 point safety inspection that the salesman kept crowing about. I rigged something up to get me home, replaced the bolt today and put 200 uneventful mile on her. Too bad because it was a pretty good dealership experience up until that point.
